Banks - why are they retards ?

Could a Don add something about a car to the thread title so this can be moved to motors where this guy normally gets torn to shreds. It's a happy day in GD today, all cats and Turkey magnates, we don't need a public hanging.

Not really, its not anyones business but the 11k is inheritance, and as the student accounts are interest free, and the student loan is making positive interest, its pointless paying them off.

I have just over £11k in the bank which is great for my circumstances. I love cars and photography but if i post in either for either 11k's worth of photo kit or £11k worth of car, 90% of the thread content will people telling me that im lying because im a 24 year old student because when they were students they didnt have any money.

I very much doubt people would assume that you were lying due to your age, and situation, if the source of the money is inheritance. People will assume that you are lying due to how you have made out that you made the money yourself, and the way that you post about completely odd situations that you appear to be in.

I finish my uni course next april ish, graduate in june ?

My bank rang me up today to tell me i owe them £1600 and i have no overdraft facility.

Cooperative/SMILE not Santander.

They told me im not at uni, so i no longer have an overdraft (had £1600 interest free overdraft).

Because i never use it. i pay £20 a month into it and then once a year take £240 out.

Perhaps your problem is this?

All we ask is that you are at least 17 and a half, a UK citizen, UK resident, in full time higher education at degree level or equivalent with full time student status (with more than 6 months left on your course) and you deposit:

at least £300
, or
an LEA grant cheque, or
a student loan (you'll need to provide proof that you have funding of £2,500 or more).

It would seem that as you have less than 6 months left at uni (April 2011) you are no longer applicable for the overdraft.

Also not sure how you got away with only depositing £20 every month, as that seems to be against the terms of the account too.

Unless you're on a different account?

As for the whole issue i have simply ignored them, i have all the proof i need that im at uni so i can just claim any charges back :D

Definitely the right approach - this is the best way to avoid any further problems.

Thats the T&C of signing up for an account, not the T&C for maintaining an account. Also, they confirmed £20 a month is plenty.

I love how you go through all my posts to try and make me look like im talking out of my bum. Sad.

yo dawg, we heard you like to bull**** so we put bull**** in yo bull**** so you can bull**** while you bull***

now we just need a good yo dawg picture with this and my job here is done.

Here is a thought. Phone your local branch and arrange a meeting with the bank manager there?

You either prove they are in the wrong and get it all sorted and get your overdraft facility back, or they prove you are wrong and you pay it off with your 11k. Easy.

Ah, but then he'd get the problem solved.

But...

i have simply ignored them, i have all the proof i need that im at uni so i can just claim any charges back :D

Which means that he'll then be able to start another thread in a few weeks.

Yeah great idea, so people can rip me to shreds on a topic i cant view!

im not getting grief they just thought i wasnt a student...clerical mistake.

Go into one of their branches and sort it out then

If i was potentially racking up obscene amounts of interest every day, i would be trying to get this sorted as soon as possible! If you leave it long enough, you may find yourself with a huge amount of debt, your credit rating destroyed, and your dream of getting a Supra gone.

I already have. All i have to do is go to Plymouth with a form from uni which I have and it will get sorted out. I just havent had time to do so! Spoken to them on the phone etc, my account is fine, however my credit rating isnt, so going to have to get the black mark on it removed.
