Upgrade from an iPhone4

are we talking proper new phone or just an update like 3GS was to 3G?

I couldn't say, Apple wouldn't stand to gain much by slapping a dual core in the iPhone 4 as it stands now unless they want 1080p, I cant see how they could improve the screen unless they made it bigger, which they probably wont...

It will probably be a redesigned shell (to remove the antenna problems), an 8MP camera and have a 64GB version. Then lots of other little things that they will market as revolutionary :p

Rumour has it the new iPhone is going to be truely revolutionary and include never before seen features like.. a memory card slot or a keypad or something.

Bluetooth?!

Or do they have that now?

The antenna problem has been sorted, hasn't it? I though all phones after Sept had been fixed?

A memory card slot would be pretty nice I think, 8GB tends to fill up pretty quickly but I doubt apple would add one as they'd rather you pay the extra for a 32gb one from the outset.

Nice username btw! :D

I dont think it has, there would have been a huge uproar if they stealth fixed it as people would have wanted refunds etc.

yea but they got a bumper :D

i was really worried about the antenna problem , especially being a lefty , happy to say ive never had a dropped call from it and my house is right in a signal deadzone (literally a black spot on vodafones map)

As for it being free, if you look at the cost of a contract with an upgrade compared to the equal sim only tariff you're far from getting it for free.

It isn't a free phone - it is a very heavily subsidised handset.

I am paying £20 a month at the moment. I can get an upgrade and move to a £35 a month tariff. I can then upgrade in 12 months time.

Cost of new phone is 12x£15=£180.

I think most people would see that as a great price for a Desire HD or an HD7 or similar high end smartphone.

I think you've rather misunderstood how it works if you think you can have a new phone for free after 12 months on a £35 a month tariff.

Or we'd get a memory slot using some stupid inane proprietry memory card technology that only Apple use, and nobody else can licence.

Then we'll end up being charged something like £100 to add an extra 8GB to the iPhone.

Cynical? Well, yes. I think it's going to be VERY close for me when I upgrade, between a nice, decent Windows phone or the iP5.

No, that is what you get as an O2 business customer. I did mention it in my first post.

35 x 12 = 420

Drop down to an equivilent sim only of £15 and you only pay £180 for 12 months.

So yeah it's far from free.

If I get a £15 per month contract then I am tied in for 12 months on a contract. I am comparing a 30day contract at £20 per month with a contract at £35 per month. The difference of £15 for 12 months is the cost to me of signing a contract and getting a handset.

I really dont think it is. You don't get a 12 month contract on £35 a month with a completely free high end handset of your choice unless your bills are considerably more than £35 a month.

I used to administer a corporate account with several hundred handsets and we didnt get that!
