*** Show us your Dogs ***

Rotty, coming up to 4 months old now. I know its still early but it's hard having a pooing/peeing machine around a kid.

Weird, we had our boy trained at 4 months, does he have much interaction with any other dogs?

The main thing I have found is routine, this is key to training any dog, but also on top of that you need to be very firm.

So why get a dog in the first place?
KaHn

I fully understand dogs and this infact is our second dog at home, she's just being a lot harder to train. Didn't really deserve the bitchy response though, but thanks for the reply.

Yeah she loves other dogs, very playful. I have a few friends with dogs that are bigger breeds and are full on stereotypes for it (nasty with other dogs etc) I'm determined to not let that happen. She's wonderful with my little lad and great with our other dog.

We got our other dog pretty much sorted within 3 months so we were hoping this would be around the same time frame. For now though we're putting up with newspaper and lots of it! Funny thing is, she rolls over/sits/and gives you her paw on demand so from that I think its proof I give her a lot of attention.

Never worked offshore mate(well not rotations) I'm an engineer in an office, if I need to do offshore trips the dog goes to my parents in Newcastle.

Oh okay, thought you were working on an oil rig or something at some point? :p

Lovely dog though

Me and the lady will be getting a Sibe eventually, either when we move into a house that allows dogs, or get our own house (Very unlikely atm)

Ok thanks; is your dog on his own at home/ggarden whilst you're in the office?

It's just that whenever I consider having a dog (distant future), I think about not being there during the day. And I would want a german shepherd or Husky, not that I know much about either yet.

I work for an oil and gas contractor so design things for offshore, do go on vessels and stuff but not all the time. Do research on sibes and just remember with them they are really pack animals so can ecome destructive without company.

He's on his own, but up untill he was 2 he lived with me and the ex with another dog and a me and the ex did different shifts so he was never left alone when growing up. Circumstances changed and i moved back to aberdeen but he seems to have coped well with the move and changes.

I wouldnt suggest a sibe if you are leaving him/her for any period of time.

What breed is Max, KaHn?
Beautiful dog!

German Shepherd, lots of pics in this thread and some another thread when he was a pup (but you'll have to search).

When we got her she was a rescue dog aged 9 months, but had allready seen 3 differant homes, she was hell on earth for the first few months, but once she realised we were actually going to keep her she calmed down.

She seems to prefer swimming to walking, but as i live by a river she gets plenty of excercise!

This is my Jakob

He is a lovely boy, with a beautiful temperament. I remember when I first posted his picture as a puppy and got so much grief from people purely because of his breed.. I couldn't ask for a nicer young fella though.

Remember, its not the breed its the idiot holding the leech that make the dog (whatever the breed) badly behaved.

My boy lives in the moment and holds no grudges, and wishes you all a Happy Christmas!!
