***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

The Slalom is the one with the cones and Cooper S, isn't it? I agree, I don't know how anyones got a Gold on that. I've been pushing hard and I still don't get near even the Silver time!

The Mini Cooper slalom is not too difficult :). It can be done almost entirely flat out, you just have to hang on to it towards the end. Imagine it's massively more difficult with the pad though.

Is this game ok for pad use only? got a voucher for play.com so might as well buy this anyway, but a lot are saying that a wheel is pretty necessary, but is pad do-able? for completing most of the challenges etc or does it suck.cheers.

Oh, is there ANOTHER ONE?! What car is that in?

I had about five attempts with the Mini and then just left it. I'm tempted by a wheel now.

Most people I know are using the pad and are still getting all Golds. While a steering will certainly maximise the enjoyment of the game and probably make it a bit easier, it's still certainly possible to play properly using a pad.

Okay cheers mate. Alough I think i'll enjoy the game seems to have received some marmite reviews from a lot of people. I thought black ops was going to be amazing but then it really wasn't (to me anyway).

I'm never playing B-Spec again. Dear me. Absolutely unbearable. Not only is it boring as hell, but the computer drives like a complete retard. I just lost a race on the last corner because he decided to accelerate towards the barrier rather than continue heading around the corner at the speed he was doing. Outrageous.

Take all the reviews with a pinch of salt. I think the reason for so many negative ones are due to the sheer wait. People have waited five years(?) for this game and numerous delays and they have still recieved an questionably incomplete and inconsistent game with a few things which need ironing out. However the makers have really taken everything on board and there's already a patch out with another on its way and this is probably just the start. So it looks promising.

Another thing is I think a lot of people perhaps over-look the fact that GT5 is a driving simulator. It really is very realistic and unforgiving, you overstep it a bit around a corner or think you can brake that just little bit later and it's over and you're in the barriers. It's really not like other racing games like NFS where you can go full out while looking good blasting around the track. A lot of younger players who perhaps never played GT4 may be unaware of what the game is actually about. So the reviews definitely need to be taken with a pinch of salt and I reccommend you just give it a go. If you liked GT4 you'll like this.

Gran Turismo all stars is now a joke. I tried the Ford GT 06 and the Bentley race car slaughters you. Farce
Veyron sucks.

Not really suprising, most decent racecars out perform supercars. The Veyron is excellent, just make sure you have it setup right.

Cheers for the review, may as well give it a shot then!

Has anyone who ordered their game from a certain jersey based retailor received their codes for the "stealth pre-order cars?"
