OCZ expect me to foot the bill for the delivery of my modxstream pro 700w to netherlands. I wouldn't mind if it was 8 or 9 quid, but putting the weight and dimensions into parcelforce worldwide site, it comes to £30. That's nearly half of the cost of a new one, plus I've already spent £65 on a new psu because I couldn't exactly wait for OCZ before getting my pc running again. So their product died in 15 months and their 3 year warranty doesn't seem to stand for much. Is there a cheaper way to send it? The boxed weight is apparently 2.8kg and dimensions are (WxLxH): 15 cm x 16 cm x 8.6 cm, if anyone would be so kind to check if I got my price correct? The cheapest is globalvalue which is up to 30kg from £8.99 it says.

"2. Exceptions. For manufacturers who do not provide a direct service Overclockers UK will provide Technical Support and Returns service for up to 1 year from date of purchase. In certain circumstances we may provide support for products over 12 months old. " Don't know what would make an exceptional circumstance and I wouldn't want to take the micky out of OCuK, they've been very good to me. Is it worth me ringing them and having a chat? It was bought august 2009, so I'm 3 months over.

friends don't let friends buy OCZ.

in fairness to OCZ their support is quite decent
i have only expreienced corsair support personally which was outstanding.

however, customers can and should deal with manu after certain time periods

for instance, i had a corsair psu that i had to rma to the netherlands before i worked at OcUK and it was really quick but i didnt mind the cost of sending it back to the manu.
corsair replaced it within 10 days, much quicker than doing it via the place of purchase.

essentially it cuts out the middleman
would you prefer to send it to the retailer who will take a few days to get the item and test it, then organise an rma [another day] then send it back to the manu who deals with it as a non priority item [up to 28 days]

i would much sooner send something back myself. manus tend to prioritise private customers over retailers

i would suggest buying components you know have favourable returns policies form trusted manufacturers.
Corsair have never let me down and thats why i champion their products.

Frankly, yes if I'm in any way still eligible to have OCuK take care of it for me to save me shipping costs, but I'm not expecting they'll do that. I don't care now how long it would take to get a replacement or refund on the OCZ since I'm now up and running with the XFX I just bought from OCuK. I just don't see why OCZ should make the customer lose a penny let alone several quid when it's their product which is faulty. Surely they should take full responsibility and reimburse the costs, subject to them confirming product error. The only circumstance I can see that would justify me paying for shipping and not recovering my costs to netherlands is if it turns out that the product wasn't faulty, or became faulty through owner misuse. Anyway, if I do have to send it overseas myself, parcel2go.com does it for £18.55 with a 5 day fedex delivery, so that's a bit better than parcelfail.

Don't they have offices in other countries?
I had an Antec fail and I had to ship it to the netherlands too. However they gave me a much better replacement model so it was worth the 25€ to send it. :D

Not saying OCZ do that but for the two products I've had to return to companies the replacements have been top notch :D

I have got a similar situation although with RAM instead of a PSU, it's quite a pain sending stuff for RMA to another country when the original product was purchased in the UK, it might not be so bad if they offered some kind of advance RMA where you can prove the product is faulty and have them ship a replacement before you send the faulty one back, but they only offer this in the USA. Their forums also reveal that the RMA process can sometimes take months if you don't keep chasing it up which is terrible if you end up without a working PC during that time.

Coolermaster is even worse. Ocuk RMA is great, fast and reliable, and they sent my PSU to coolermaster for some reason.

If you're buying OCZ/CM, Hope your stuff doesnt get dingied because its gonna be a long time before u get anything back.

Geil is even worse than any of these mentioned. To RMA my RAM I had to send an email to them in Taiwan and they haven't even replied.

Christ.

See if you had to send it to taiwan aswell ? I would just grab a hammer, smash the RAM and buy a new one. Seriously, if it takes months from Coolermaster it must take YEARS from Asia.

I always find manufacturer warranty is a joke.

I don't know about OCZ but I had 2 laptops I sent back to ACER and they took 2 months a pop :|

I think you do have to send it back to Taiwan as well from what I have heard from others. I would buy some more however only one stick is faulty so im running on 2gb until I decide what to do about Sandy Bridge. Don't want to spend £70 on some DDR2 if im going to be on DDR3 in a month or two

I rang OCuK and had a chat but it's no go since it's over 12 months. Ah well, not to worry. Interparcel.com seem to be a bit cheaper still for sending it back, guess I'll use that unless anyone knows of a cheaper service.

i warrantied some hard disks back to western digital once.

sent two 160gb disks back, theym took 2 months, BUT, sent me 4 320gb disks!

i had chased it up about a month in so i reckon they thought the first batch had got lost as i got two deliveries of two disks.

they flew out on fleabay.
