Pelting cars with snow balls

I was talking to a woman I met in a bar in Southampton. It turned out her job was a policewoman. So I mentioned it must be tough in some of the chavvier areas of the city. And she's like "Yeah, we can't park at Thornhill any more. We have to park a distance away. Because if we park anywhere near the tower blocks we get household appliances thrown at the cars".

Southampton's fine as long as you stay on the ley line between Town Quay and Swaythling. Venture too far East or West and it's like stepping off the path into some subhuman world that civilisation forgot. Milbrook, Shirley, Sholing, Thornhill, Bitterne, they're all holes.

Saying that, the northern edge of Swaythling isn't the kind of place you'd saunter through without eyes in the back of your head, either. Strange that there's no real issue anywhere along the central strip.

Guilty as charged 25 years ago. I see the dangers now but kids see it as fun. I never did the 'rock-in-a-ball' thing though, I knew where the line was drawn!

End of the day, YOU did it as a kid, now you have cars etc, you are just getting back what you did all them years ago.

I don't think it's really a big deal, it's only a snowball. The only real problems are drivers rage and violence often occurs.

Rubbish, last year a snowball hit my drivers side window and made me jump luckily I was driving slow paying attention to the road and I was on a straight road which was pretty clear of other cars.

If the same was done to a driver who was elderly or not confident or even not very cable or perhaps a busy road with ice and snow then they could cause an accident.

A gang of kids were pelting cars with snowballs just down the road, they've been doing it every night since the snow started, I'm tempted to fill my sons super soaker and give them a drive-by soaking tonight, the only question is what to fill it with...

They've also been stoning the gritters in Derry according to the news.

Why would you be driving fast enough in weather like this so you would lose control of your vehicle as a result of this any ways? Then again just look at all of those 'responsible' drivers out there complaining about the odd snowball who still drive with 4" of snow sat on their roof. Bet that never obstructs the view when you have to brake suddenly...

Do you drive a car? If you do you dont know what your talking about.

This kind of stuff really pees me off.. To anyone saying it's not that bad... Have you ever had a snowball pelted at your car making a massive thud on the drivers window which could cause some emergency breaking which in this weather is quite dangerous! I think i moaned about this last year as I had a few moments with snowballs hitting the car.

Still have my strut brace which I haven't bothered fitting sitting in the boot should I wish to stop the car this year :D

:| I don't get it.

/Johnathan - Maybe you're all too ancient :>

This is nothing new, it happened when I was a kid and it's still happening now. It's just that I've learned to wear gloves now and don't get cold hands!

Well what had to be done, was done at the time.

Its kind of like a 'to do list' for the young'ns at Winter time, I mean the season comes once a year, so I guess some kids look forward to these activities.

Try educating the young about safety, if they are in a big group, the blame gets shared and its worthwhile to risk a whoopass if you got caught that is. Which brings me onto the next bit, some kids throw snowballs at Van, Cars but not Busses because they want to provoke Driver Rage and get a Chase.

The buzz would come from knowing the driver would not know where the heck your hiding, the drivers would have a big disadvantage since its your neighborhood your playground, your rules "system".

My 2 pennies coming from someone who part took in these childish events, there were no Xbox that time, I'm sure there were Scalextric though.
P.s it was just snow, I despise people who use Bricks, Rocks and oh yh Household Appliances.
