***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Try looking once in a while at the used car lot, it took me a while to find anything useful. Most pointless, ridiculous car I bought was an old Subaru 360, avoid this car at all times, dangerously slow.
 
Like the frigging wind LOl what a pain in the bottom that was , i did the first race no probs first time but the indy track i didnt have a car nowhere near good enough so ended up with the corvette zr1 with race mod and upgrades and in the end worked out the right downforce and gear ratio's for the track but still came 2nd loads of times before winning :D won by 0.056 :p , love the race car you win for doing this .

It's not buggy, because the track crosses over itself there are two races going on simultaneously, there parts where the track crosses over are the parts where the CPU in your race tend to get wiped out by the CPU in the other race.

It isn't long winded, you have to go the event you want to enter and look on the entry requirements, I fail to see how that is inconvenient. You can also access your garage at the same place, so if you look at the event and you're not in the right car you don't need to go back to your garage through the loading screens, you can just access it in the bottom right corner once you've got the event requirements on screen. If you haven't got a car in your garage that can compete in the race then you will have to go to the dealership and buy one. If that's inconvenient for you then I have to ask if you've ever played Gran Turismo before?

Yeah but where it tells you what cars you need, you have to remember which ones you need to find, and if there is a list of 15 cars, can you remember all 15 to look for in the dealership? I cant :confused: - I remember one or two... thats what I mean?

I've usually decided what I want before I've looked at whats applicable :D You learn to spot whats best and just look for just that eventually, it's easier if you're and car guy in real life :)

Ah yeah I get what you mean. Are you looking at the typical opposition, or the entry requirements? I know that sounds a bit patronising but it's easy to get the two mixed up. Typical opponents is just a list of the cars the CPU often uses but a lot of the races don't have entry requirements. The hot hatch one is an example of this, the typical opponents shows a list of hot hatches so the quick Renault Clio's, 106 Rallye etc but the actual entry requirements have no requirements so you can just choose any car you like. I did it in a Veyron.

My B spec guy is especially useless on tight city tracks even when I repeatedly tell him to slow down for the hairpins. He's only level 6 though. When do they start to get a bit more competent, if ever?:p
 
B Spec guy is very dumb, he can't drive a Civic 89 race car with superb cornering ability, you have to keep his temper down apperntly, to allow him to drive properly. but far too slow speeds

The main advantage is the downforce as that allows much better handling in corners and you can adjust it to get rid of understeer when applying throttle.

Doesn't that make it useless for long tracks though as the close ratio will just ruin the top end speed, or does it give you the fully customisable box?
