Oh come off it, Ive been gaming since way before the original GT, just got a PS3 having missed the last two games so I can hardly be considered a fan boy.
If you can get past the rough edges and put up with the archaic structure then theres a really solid racing game in there and a lot of fun to be had with some of the special events, some fantastic cars and tracks and pretty good mp.
Stop talking out of your arse.
two points that you made: rough edges and archaic structure. that's in a game that was delayed for around 3 years? And yes, i have been gaming long before the original GT too and I can smell the bullcrap. Unfortunately i have also stepped on it.
You skipped the last two you say? Grab a PS2 and try them. The handling is the same. There is nothing new in this game apart from the 200 premium cars.
I am not the one talking out of my ass. It is PD who just served a game out of their ass and you are praising it. Guess what. Praise it some more and they will serve you the same crap again next time. Wake up and give them a slap for it and maybe the next one will not be gameplay from '95 with graphics from 2008.
You really wanna go into some details without putting it under the microscope? Because I am pretty sure i can argue my case to the point that pretty much anyone will agree this game is not even worth of a trash can.
They have wasted all this time producing nothing new. They have wasted all this time modelling ancient cars that nobody wants to drive. 'Good going on the WW2 VW Jeeps' Such an inspired choice of a car. I bet millions of gamers were dying to race those around The Ring.
They have wasted all this time making no improvements on sound at all! I have the thing hooked up to studio monitors and all the cars pretty much sound the same. It's like they are pumping the same range of frequencies over and over no matter what car you are driving.
In GT1 i was able to adjust the turbo pressure (you know, like in the real world) so i didn't have to buy all the different turbo options and waste money. What happened to that? Too lazy to simulate power and torque curves as turbo pressure goes up?
Races are inconsistent. Check out tire restrictions in A-spec and B-spec events. They don't match... Care to explain why?
AI... Do I need to go further? How do you even put up with this junk?
Car models? Good job on the premiums. I wish they were 400 premiums and no other car in the game instead of 200 premiums and 800 ****tyums. And yes, the difference is obvious between the two even in races. I have my PS3 hooked up to a PC monitor and I play fairly close to it at 1080p.
AntiAliasing... What? Where?
Why am i restricted to what I can install in cars? If i want a supercharger I will install a supercharger and not a turbocharger you fascists! Again, too lazy to model car performance for different types of modifications. Same applies to aerodynamics. Not all cars are eligible. Lazy programming.
Remember GT2? You know, in PS1, where you had the option to make a race car out of any car more or less? That was gone until now and now that I see it, I see no cars eligible....
Screen tearing.... Hey mom is it me or does everything look stretchy?
Frame drops... Holy frame-dive batman, did everything just go in slo-mo for a few seconds?
And I ask you now. Looking at this game, at its present state can you honestly tell me how they have spent all those years of development and delays? Did they improve cars? Hardly. Did they improve physics? Not really, not compared to GT4. Did they improve menus? Nope. Did they add some kind of tournament mode that can go on for days or maybe real time events like sunday cups? Nada. Just the same old stale licences/challenges and the same bunch of events, most of which still carry their 10 year old names.
Honestly I can keep going forever. Yes, some arguments are totally subjective but if you sit down and look at the game objectively you will still find major issues, not only compared to other games but as a standalone game that has not evolved at all in more than a decade.
Rant over.
