I followed the game at work via Cricinfo on my mobile phone.
Quite a hot day at the Oval (think it reached the mid 30s). Another display of fine bowling from England; another display of poor batting from Australia (except Hussey; England seem to go weak at the knees whenever he steps up to the crease).
How about that Anderson, eh? Sharp work in the opening overs! Though I am still confused about Swann's role; I thought he was your #1 spin bowler? Yet everyone else seems to be taking the big wickets.
But I digress.
After decades of living in Australia's shadow, this really is the Poms' time to shine. The Australian 11 is at its weakest for years, our international ranking is at an all time low, and we still don't have a consistent bowling attack. But having dominated the rest of the world for so long, we would have been fools to believe it would last forever.
I expected England to win this year, and I reckon I'll be proved right. It seems to me that an Ashes loss on home soil is exactly what Australia needs to reinvigorate our game and spur on the next generation. You won't find me crying into my pint over it.
