Mummy V Daddy

where do you think the phrase "mummy's boy" and "daddy's girl" came from ?

Exactly....me and my 2 brothers were very close to my mum, still are and its one of the reasons my dad left my mum...utter jealousy on his part but his loss really.

I dont have kids but i do have a nephew and niece and they are like chalk and cheese...my niece is 11 now and is definitely a daddys girl...she obviously loves both ie my bro and sis in law but because my brother spoils her...he cant say no...hes her favourite of course whereas my sis in law is always telling her off if she steps out of line. Now my nephew whos 7 is definitely a mummys boy ie my brother disciplines him more than my sis in law.

But ultimately both kids love their parents.

this is why you need two loving parents.

My son learned fast that if mum said no to ask me.

Of course I always say "you know i'm going to ask mum what she said don't you"

This usually makes him change his mummy said yes story lol.

My Godson used to do that, when younger.

His mum hated me for it, he would cry his eyes out when I was dropping him off at nursery or leaving the house. Or if he was crying, in general, and his mum picked him up he would try to get out her arms to come to me.

I loved it mind, great feeling. But I had to stop being around as much, as she was getting very jealous.

It's actually scary how early they try that sort of thing. These 2 (2 and 5) manage that already.

"Mummy can I have a drink please?"

"No, you're just about to go to bed..."

"Ross, can I have a drink please?"

Er.... sneaky!!

My 4 year old asked me for some more food before bed the other evening. I asked her what mummy (who had since gone out) has said about having any more food, and she told me "It's OK, mummy won't know".

It's very interesting to watch them learn to be deceptive, though obviously not to be endorsed! It's like if she came to me and said "I've devised the perfect murder!". I'd be all "Well dear, that's very clever, but please don't kill anyone."
