APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE FOR THE RANT TO COME:-

Have not seen this ofically yet, but judging on what happened last year, we can probably expect Car insurance Premiums to go up again this year because of all the accidents caused by the snow.????
AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I am already paying £1100 for a 51reg Passat 1.9TDI no Mods.

Do they want some blood with that as well

I didnt find that mine went up this year, nor do i feel that it is in any way overpriced given the risk involved.

It went down slightly actually.

You just need to crash more so you have a better value for money feeling.

I've just renewed today and over the last 2 weeks have found my premium has gone up significantly.
Talking to some of the insurers this seems to be a result of rising insurance premium tax but more directly to my points now being more likely to affect my premium than they did last year. Whether this is unfounded or not I don't know. But a quote on the disco in July using the same details as this week resulted in it being about £150 more expensive now and my new insurance was £650. This is the 2nd highest I've paid since I started driving in 1995.

IPT is still 5% so that's not making the difference.

Prices really are mad now, my renewal is in the next few days, looking at nearly £300 for a 12 year old, 85bhp family diesel estate with as much NCB as you can get (they stop at 9 years for some reason, what about those of us who haven't crashed for longer than that?)

Really must try and do something about moving my insurance renewal and road tax away from december, it's proving to be an expensive month!

Move to somewhere with a better post code and stop whining.

This actually.

The difference having a crap postcode can make is absoultely mind boggling. I think there's a couple of hundred quid difference between keeping my car at home and keeping it at my lock up .2 miles away!

Just did a quote. Down almost £100 without looking at other insurers.

£550 at 19 with a fault claim and 1 years NCB isn't baad, I don't think. Fully comp and the main driver :D

Brilliant idea. Go through all that involves putting your house on the market during a period in property sales which is depressed. Then attempt to purchase what will probably be a more expensive property than the one you are currently living in. Move house ( eventually - if you manage to sell ) and go through all the hassles a move involves, possibly having to relocate your kids to a different school. Excellent.

At least after all that is over you might, just might, have saved a few quid on you car insurance. :p
