Cobble Stone/Smooth Stone, mostly.

Don't know, after looking around the area it looks like other people have been caught out by these monsters as well. Wasn't such a good idea adding them in my opinion.

The stupidly large hole where half of my fort used to be seems to say griefing more than monsters to me.
 
I don't mind most monsters being in the game, but anything that explodes or can cause lots of dmg to a players creation is just not worth the hassle IMO. For example, something like a complex redstone setup takes a lot of time to setup, even over a small space. So a single explosion could easily destroy many hours of work.
 
I've just gone back to my fort to see 3 creepers and numerous spiders in the hole they must've left since I last went on Minecraft. I can't be bothered to fix it.

It's a rage quit from me.
 
I liked Sonic, but yeah it would have been better without Robotnic coming along and trying to kill me all the time. And I loved Civ too, but when other civs rolled over me with tanks I couldn't help thinking how great the game would be without all the military units.

And don't even get me started on Doom... imagine how awesome that game would be without all the hard monsters that made the game suck?

FoxEye the game is different things to different people. Some like the fact that it is a survival game. But the majority prefer it as a construction game. And the construction aspect is ruined when no matter how well constructed a building is, and how well lit it is to stop mobs spawning, there are griefers who lure mobs to areas to destroy other peoples work.

You can't compare this to other games because the server started off without mobs, and buildings were built with that in mind, now that mobs have been added a lot of peoples structures are suddenly no longer suitable. And griefing with all the fire was bad enough before mobs were added, now it will only get worse.

There are TWO Minecraft multiplayer modes.

Construction (aka Classic) and SURVIVAL. It's not called SMP for nothing :rolleyes:

edit: also there are very well supported and popular classic servers about. These don't have the pesky monsters (inc creepers) that you guys hate so much. Why not give them a go?

Don't play much l4d much these days just too much hassle getting a good game together.

Well when I first started playing on the server I only knew it by IP, I had no idea what mode it was running, just that it lacked mobs. As for the other servers, I would rather play and chat with other OcUK people at the same time.
 
I've built my base well and as such have not had a problem with creepers, learn how to deal with them, learn how to lead them away from your place if you're getting followed, build a bow and arrow not that they work!

Plenty of ways to deal with them, I'd be sad to see them go.

For some reason I have lost 'momentum' with Minecraft, I just cant get myself to play it....

because we've put 10's of hours in to this server and built a community ? not that hard to understand is it?


creepers are everywhere atm, you literally have to light every square inch of land just to stop them appearing - you know have to look at the buildings around spawn to see the damage they have done, dpesite being well lit in most places. I think this needs to be addressed in a patch or something, they are far too frequent.
