Sibes are actually very easy to train, people just need to realise like most working dogs they need a lot of excercise, I know loads of people who got sibes who don't really like walking...........................:confused:

But on the other hand I know loads of sibes who are fine off the lead and have really good recall because the owners work them (people who don't like running with their dogs can get sleds/skids for them to pull).

Thats one thing which has always put me off sibes/malamutes is the amount of running they do actually need (same with springers).

Max seems the right level of docileness but if I get in from work and only take him to do his buisness then come in for tea and wait too long before taking him out he will let me know by sitting in front of the TV looking at me then walking to the door sitting there and repeating it till I take him for a long run :).

Well, atleast you know what they require, and get the dog in accordance with what you can /cant do :p

It baffles the mind when people get dogs like that, then moan that they need exercise, hell, it'll probably do you a lot of good!

It's sad how many are re-homed all the time due to things like this, I really do wish people would either A.) Research the damn breed before committing anything, or B.) Goto an actual dog place to obtain a Husky or go through a decent charity that knows about them.

My cocker is having fun in the snow, however every time he spends more than 30mins out there he has a nice collection of snowballs attached to his legs, belly, bum, balls so he's getting a warm bath everday at the moment haha...

He loves the snow though!

If you have real issues with it look at limiting the space your dog sleeps/poos in (as generally they will not poo where they sleep) and not giving it run of the house.

Spot on Mate! We limit our rotty to the (well heated) out house that is attached to the house, she doesnt do anything in there, when the misses (forgetful as she is) doesnt lock the door she will run up stairs into the front room and do a huge one in there, but only that room, weird.

As KaHn said limit were your Rotty can go to where she sleeps she will never go in there.

Yes, I make my Rotty wait for her food she will sit down and just watch me untill I tell her to go for it, having her training all the time helps a lot....

My dads dog, brown lab, would do this. We got him from a home and had always done it. You could leave the room and come back 1-2 minutes later and he'd still be sat there. Dribbling insane amounts by this point. Bowl of food was gone in about 8 seconds flat once you gave him the nod.

My friends black lab is very strange, the only dog I've ever seen not to wolf it's food down. It's almost dis-interested in it's own food, just tends to graze on it throughout the day when it realises it's not getting any 'human' food.

Yer, our Rotty has tripe (untreated) she loves it but doesnt eat it stupidly fast, but she also knows that she doesnt get any food off us and doesnt beg either, annoys the hell out of me that! :)

my jess (border collie) is like that, i had a hell of a job getting her to eat when i first got her she was on wagg and she would eat it but it came out the other end runny so i had tried her on loads and she wouldnt eat them she had gone 5 whole days without eating once. anyway i spotted some frozen dog mince in the petshop well she love human mince so i thought she might eat this stuff she also gets as a treat scrambled egg and toast which she loves, she still has days where she not bothered and wont eat much but shes a lot better now still doesnt wolf it down though which i thought all dogs do.

I love huskys and still certain i will get one if i get a good enough environment for it to live in.

Sorry been at work so couldnt reply.

As Kahn says it is a Staffy cross. Its crossed with a rhodesian Ridgeback. Got him from a rescue place, he was a stray. We think he was supposed to be for fighting (theyve tried to dock his tail themselves but failed so he has a big kink in it) but hes the biggest softy in the world.

I work for an oil and gas contractor so design things for offshore, do go on vessels and stuff but not all the time. Do research on sibes and just remember with them they are really pack animals so can ecome destructive without company.

Ahh don't worry about that, she knows all about them :D

She volunteers for a Huskie Welfare, so has been around the dogs for a fair few years now so she'll definately keep them in check :)
