The Ashes 2010-11: Australia v England ** spoilers **

Says so in the first sentence you linked to

I thought you were referring to Trott! My original comment was a pun on the word "swings." Good grief, do I need to spell it out?

Edit I'd die to be in that sun right now

No, you'd die in that sun. 34°C looks great on paper, but it's a killer on the skin. Today's UV index is currently 7.5 and due to peak at 10 by midday. That's pretty damn harsh.

#1 no

#2 I lived in Darwin for over a year so Im well aware of the heat, humidity and everything else that comes with it. Even the odd earthquake up in the top end:D I loved every second the heat up there

Just heard a stat on TMS, Cook and Trott have shared 401 runs between them since their partnership was last broken.

Absolutely incredible, just hope they can both keep it up :)

last time i was in adelaide it was 44 degrees and i lasted 20 minutes on glenelg beach before i had to retreat to the bar. That was in february though, i don't think it will get that brutal now but its not going to be comfortable(for the Aussies) if they keep feeding Cook and Trott(especially) legside balls to feed on.

Wish Strauss was in instead of Cook, much better player but meh, Australia's attack is so unbelievably average it's a casual 200 lead and let you chase the game.

Well, my prediction is right on track so far.

+1

This entire series will be a walk in the park for England. An under-strength Australian squad simply can't offer the challenge of previous years.

Actually starting to feel a bit sorry for Ponting, it must be tough to look at his bowling attack and see a couple of farmer-boy quicks fresh out of the county circuit, a non-spinner and a pair of part-timers to choose from :p I'm surprised he hasn't turned his arm over himself!

I'm pretty surprised he hasn't slung Katich on to be honest - only a part timer, but a strike rate of less than 50 and an average of 30 implies it could have been worth it with the old ball.

England in complete command at the end of the second day are 317 for 2 (89 overs) with a lead of 72 runs:

Strauss b Bollinger 1
Cook not out 136
Trott c Clarke b Harris 78
Pietersen not out 85
Extras 17

Fall of wicket: 1, 176

Great day for England, Cook really is in majestic form and id be worried if I was an aussie seeing KP still there at the close on 89. He looks in ominous touch so tomorrow could be fun!

I think my club bowlers could give England more a game than this pathetic bunch of no hopers on the Australian team sheet.

I'm loving it, mind you.

Really KP gets his hundred. I'm sure the celebration would be worth seeing!

This, he needs to get his hundred and help us crack on as quickly as possible. Apparently chances of rain in the final few days so we need to give ourselves time to force a result. Would Strauss be brave enough to declare an hour into the afternoon session or even at lunch? Going to be interesting.
