Me and the wife went to London for a few days and decided to treat ourselves and have Dinner at Ramseys. I've never been to anywhere like this before but thought I'd love to try it at least once to see if the food was really that special.
And I can say that is wasn't just special, it was absolutely out of this world and it wasn't just the food, the whole experience was amazing.

We plumped for the 6 course taster menu to experience as many flavours as possible

When we sat down we were given breadsticks and some dips, I can't remember what they were but they were very nice.
We then chose from a slection of breads and were given salted and unsalted butters.

This was followed by an Amuse Bouche of Pumpkin soup, dribbled with Truffle oil and studded with truffles.
The soup was beautiful, it's the first time I've ever had truffles, they have a unique and rich wonderful taste.

Next was Seared Loin and cured haunch of Muntjac venison, blackeries, hazelnuts and foie gras.

The fish course was my favourite and I'm not normally a great fan.
Sauteed John Dory and scallop, passion fruit, broccoli, puffed rice with bacon.

Salt baked Hardwick lamb loin and shepherds pie, braised red cabbage, Jerusalem artichokes.

Lemon pannacotta, blackcurrant and hibiscus sorbet.

Cold Valrhona chocolate and gianduja fondant, mandarin sorbet.

We were then offered Coffee and handmade chocolates, I don't drink coffee this late in the day so turned it down, however the chocolates were gorgeous.

We're not big drinkers so this was washed down with a couple of bottles of Peroni, a glass of Rose wine and a bottle of Evian.

I would give the meal 10 out of 10, it was flawless. However what was equally impressive was the attention to detail and the whole experience. The restaurant manager was chatting to us for quite a while and explained it was his job to make our evening perfect.

The bill came to £204.

Would I go again? I'm not sure, I'd probably have to say no, not for a long time anyway. We've just come back from 5 days at Center Parcs and that didn't cost much more than the bill.

For a once in a lifetime experience I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Doesn't Ramsey's places cook everything offsite and the ship it in to be reheated ?

You know what?I think after eating the things you mentioned,i would stop at a Mc Donalds later on?I would NEVER have enough with the things laying on your plate...

That accusation was levied at some of the pubs that operate under his brand, where they don't have the room on premises for a full kitchen. Or something like that.

If that were true of his proper restaurants, he wouldn't have any Michelin stars.

I always think these posh restaurants never give enough portions but I guess it is about the quality not quantity.

Would you say you had enough to eat?

It does look good! I am tempted to go myself if I can find the funds

It looks lovely and given the number of courses you had the portions look pretty much spot on.

What was the shepherd's pie like? It's not the sort of food I'd expect to see there but looks delicious.

I am probably going to get flamed for this but the presentation of the these looks scruffy.

Very amusing that you took pictures of each course. And rather chavvy.

Still, I'd say Claridges was overrated and not his best restaurant. If you want a great dining experience, go to his flagship restaurant in Royal Hospital Road. I've been three times and it's the best dining experience I've had.
