So I went for dinner at Gordon Ramsey at Claridges

That accusation was levied at some of the pubs that operate under his brand, where they don't have the room on premises for a full kitchen. Or something like that.

If that were true of his proper restaurants, he wouldn't have any Michelin stars.

Ahh goodo

I went to Smiths of Smithfields over the summer with my parents and sister and another thing I love about expensive restaurants is the service. Our waiter could tell us everything about what we wanted to order. He told us what complimented what, other things that we might also like. :)

They forgot to cook your loin and lamb and who sicked up on your John Dory?

I hope you checked the foie gras was a product of natural feeding and not via gavage. If you didn't check, you disgust me.

I love how they say "puffed rice" when I bet they have a mountain of toys from the boxes of rice crispies out the back.

Very amusing that you took pictures of each course. And rather chavvy.

Still, I'd say Claridges was overrated and not his best restaurant. If you want a great dining experience, go to his flagship restaurant in Royal Hospital Road. I've been three times and it's the best dining experience I've had.

Why is it 'chavvy'? You sound like a bit of a snob. I take it you eat in Michelin star restaurants every evening or something? He was taking a picture of a rare experience.

It's inappropriate, it's called common courtesy, like not answering your phone in a restaurant and putting it on silent.

Next time take a folder with you, at least that way you could pass yourself as a food critic and taking photos would be acceptable.

only reason that I would want to go to any of his restaurants, is to go to 'Maze' and rather than drool over the food, I'd be drooling over a certain young chef there called Alice (and anyone who saw masterchef the professionals this year, knows who I mean).

Lol, ,kudos for photographing food in a middle of a restaurant like that.

Haha ,that's pretty funny. Also, the food doesn't look anything special and I can guarantee you you'd get better and more refined cultured cuisine in some taverns in mediterrenean countries.

Precisely. It's tacky.

Taking photos of Big Ben and the London Eye shows how seldom one goes to those places.

I thought Claridges lost its star?

It's Claridges, surely this kind of thing happens often. It's pretty much a tourist destination owned by a TV personality.

Sounds awful, probably why I've never been. :)

I'm sure there are plenty of other restaurants for people like you and Lysander which won't have you tutting and looking down your noses at people who are enjoying a rare experience so yes I agree.

You know what?I think after eating the things you mentioned,i would stop at a Mc Donalds later on?I would NEVER have enough with the things laying on your plate...

These places aren't about going there to stuff yourself full :p You go to enjoy the food / experience.

Doesn't Ramsey's places cook everything offsite and the ship it in to be reheated ?

Nope,

some of his pub grub brand that pubs use. Is half prepared off site and shipped fresh to the pubs each day. It is no different to pubs/restaurants prep work in the mourning, and has nothing to do with his restaurants.

that meal looks great, haven't been to Claridges. Disappointed when I went to Atul kochers one. These types of meals are certainly worth the experience

You think it doesn't look like a lot of food and you'll leave hungry you wont. They are rich remember there's no low fat stuff and quantity is replaced by luxury. You won't leave stuffed but you will be full and satisfied and that goes for any sized eater.

I know I say this every thread and sound like a broken record, but if you like high end food, but not the price, try http://www.latrompette.co.uk/, siblings and I go there every year. It's £40 for 3 courses, some dishes you pay extra for though, usually end up around £80 each but leave pretty drunk. Amazing atmosphere, prefer it to the bigger named restaurants as it's smaller. I always find big restaurants although professional lose a lot of atmosphere.
