Ive heard that if you leave the queue you get a new Dl. Part of me thinks this is a lie to clear the queue for others. But you never know, anyone confirm this?

They haven't underestimated it at all. It only happens once per expansion so why on earth would they upgrade servers to a level so they can cope with EVERYONE trying to log in at once?

well i was hopefully until they said we would have to relog, we went straight on for wrath but then it caught a lot of ppl out being 2 hours early.
