In b4 Jesus pic, though it's well deserved.

I was standing at a cash machine today when I noticed the guys in front get bored of waiting [it wasn't that long] and then walk off. They were clearly foreign, I think Scandinavian, and probably thought the machine was broken so they left. As they walked off down the road it spat out their cash. A fat wadge of it. I snatched it out the machine and ran after them to give it back, turned out it was £200 in total, which I could easily have walked off with. They were understandably very relieved and thankful, and one of the guys in the queue even shook my hand when I came back. Good moment, made me wonder whether anyone would have actually had the indecency to talk off with it.

Erm yes. End of story. But it made me feel good.
 
Did a similar thing myself when I was but a wee student in 2005.

Ran after the guy and found out it was the landlord we had just signed next years contract with :D
 
Well done for being so honest. I've only seen that once before. As I approached a cash machine there was £20 hanging out of it - the previous customer was walking away. By the time I got there the machine took it back in. I went after the woman that was walking away to explain to her, but she didn't speak a word of english.
 
I'm always a 'treat 'em like they treat you' kind of person. That very thing happened to me years ago in Liverpool (!!!), so still awaiting a day when I can return some poor chap's money.
 
I was at a cash machine one day with a mate and tried to get some money out to go for a few beers. On closer inspection it turns out I hadn't been paid so was about to go home when an old lady behind me overheard us and asked if I'd like to have 50 quid ! I very politely declined several times as she was fairly insistant I just take her money but I couldn't do it.
For the next 3 hours my mate couldn't stop laughing at what an idiot I was to not take the old dears cash but I felt pretty chuffed with myself and thought I should be owed some good karma for my deed.

3 weeks later I got a 600 quid tax rebate :D
 
Did it tother week, some guy left his cash so I ran after him before he disappeared round the corner. Karma repaid for when I dropped my card in the cinema a while back and didn't notice, only for some lad to notice and come running after me.

Always a nice feeling doing something like that :D
 
Did the same a few weeks ago, the two people were pretty neddish but were very happy and thankful. I'd hope others would do the same, though I wouldn't be that stupid.

Good for you doing that :) However... as their was somebody behind you i do wonder how much of a influence that had on your decision.
 
good one OP, its nice to hear of decent people like you still around, dont see many on my travels.
 
Had one of these in liverpool too

Walked to the machine and £40 was sticking out. Some guy had just walked off so I took the cash and ran after him to get my karma points. I shouted to try and get his attention, he heard me and started to run off! :D

Weighed it up and ended up keeping it. Wouldnt have made my day if the dude turned around as I caught up to him and he popped a cap in my ass

I tried though.. kind of :D
