1 Tb ssd

Hopefully you can afford the deposit and Halifax or Santander will allow you to take out a mortgage for it.

;)

It's a flagship. Like the Bugatti Veyron, the company does not make money from it but it makes the OCZ brand (or the colossus series) very well known.

no trim = fail in my eyes

Trim isn't a big issue if the drive has Garbage Collection. The Colossus is just a couple of first gen vertexes in RAID0 - If you're looking at spending that sort of cash you'd be better off with an Ibis or Revodrive X2.

Still waiting on the Revodrive X2. Hoping they would release it for Christmas

You might want to remove that link to a competitor.

As for a 1TB hard drive, do you REALLY need it?

Just use a small SSD for your OS and main apps, and a normal HDD for documents etc. It also helps, if you need to reinstall your OS, all your documents and photos etc are all on different drives.

The other thing is, everyone quotes the sequential read/write speeds on SSDs. You only get those speeds when you are installing your OS, or large files.

Random read/write speeds are what REALLY matter when talking about SSD speeds. And as far as I know, that's what makes the Intel SSDs so good. While they have low sequential read/write speeds, their random speeds are pretty damn fast (as far as I know).
