Car park ding, owner hesitant to pursue

"have you had any accidents, claims or losses"

Technically he has to report it even if he doesn't claim or fix it.

If she's dropping a kid off, there's a good chance she'll be there next week. Make sure the driver and at least one witness is there and confront her. Tell her you have CCTV of her car and show her a quote to fix the damage. Tell her you (driver) want to keep this away from the insurers in order for them both to save money but if she doesn't comply you will report it to the police and involve her insurance company.

I'm sure she will have to come back at some point.

My mum had a similar situation recently. Someone else who works at the school knocked into her car and dismissed it just like the lady in the OP. Unfortunately my mum isn't very assertive and hasn't pushed for compensation (and I was meant to be getting a repair quote :o )

And in my experience this will push your premium up by a considerable amount if your young and insuring a fairly nippy vehicle ;)

Poor guy. He knows if he loses his NCB he wont be able to insure his Fiesta ST, hence he's worried. But if he claims from her insurance company, then he won't need to claim on his insurance and his NCB is safe.

He will need to involve the police though to get her details - the accident will need to be reported as a failiure to stop, and you'll need to be a witness.

Please do it - she deserves everything she gets.

Here here. Stupid bint.

Pursue her, too many arrogant people who believe they're immune from consequences. It's failure to stop. Take some time to explain to the guy that if he goes through her insurance he's fine, at that age I'd be terrified of losing my NCB too!

Couldn't put it better myself.

"you'll learn about real life one day".

So will she when the old bill knock on her door for failure to stop at the scene of an accident and portraying an attitude like that as an adult around kids.

I totally see his worry though. Europa Consultants/Helphire her... Go for every single penny you can to hurt her insurance.

Please don't "Helphire/Europa her". It's totally not necessary and just pushes everyone's insurance up.

File police report. Get ticket number. Get 2 or 3 written witness statements. Forward to insurer. Job done. As said, his insurance will be going up whether he claims or not - providing he does everything by the book.

This needs reporting...the sooner the better. You would think a mother would know better! Apparently not

Call the police and report her. Hopefully she'll get a day in court for this.

Stupid bint should learn how drive instead of just bouncing off other cars.

Agreed.

I watched a woman reverse into a car in Waitrose car park once (she was about 3ft tall driving an S class, ridiculous as she could hardly see over the steering wheel), she just drove off so I got her registration and left a note on the owner's car along with my number in case they needed a witness.

Got a call a week later saying the only damage he found was a crack in the number plate, but he'd pursued it through her insurance company as a claim. I'd would have loved to have seen the look on her face when she got a call about a cracked number plate, and failure to stop. :D

Both parties are idiots in that story. A numberplate costs less than a tenner which is a lot less than your insurance is going to be going up with a "hit whilst parked" on your driving history.

Nah, this is a BAD idea. Please report it as a hit and run, she has broken the law, failure to stop after an accident. She deserves to be taught a life lesson.

I find it disgusting the fact she is willing to drive off after damaging, what has clearly been described as the guys pride and joy.

The longer you wait to report this, the more suspect it looks.

Never mind the fact she broke the law and failed to stop after damaging someone else's property?

I just think it's wrong that if you're hit while parked, your insurance will go up. It's just ridiculous. If something happens and it's not your fault, why should you be penalised for it? I actually hate the whole insurance situation in this country, I don't know how they get away with it to be honest.

My number plates were £20 each, why should I be £20 out of pocket because of someones negligence, and have to put up with them breaking the law by driving away from an accident they've caused? And sometimes, adding a non-fault claim to your policy will result in no increase in premium anyways.
