*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Your phone should still work with an older radio, just some stuff might glitch like cell reception, wifi, battery and camera etc.

Best thing to do is just install the latest Modaco or Tepic ROM as they stick as close to stock Sense but also add the various things needed for a nicely rooted phone.

Root via UnrEVOked and then flash with either ROM.

Hi all

Just rooted and used AlphaRev to turn the S-OFF. Just wondering:

1) To get a new ROM on is it a simple matter of putting update.zip in the root, booting into recovery and running the update? Do I need to backup first? And how do I get APPS2SD+? Do I need to repartition my SD card?

2) What is the best ROM to get rid of Sense, which is nice and quick, with no less features than the stock HTC ROM offers? Also like little tricks like Menu button to unlock the phone etc...

Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

I can enter proxy settings on DeFrost. Not sure if this is a feature of the rom or something common across all of them.

Anyone help with this?

I was going to use data2ext but I'm not confident in its ability to be reliable and stable enough yet especially on sd cards below class 8 specification as I only have a class 6.
I can quite confidently say that the Data2SD ROMs ive used have been buggy, unstable and just plain rubbish.
Case in point RCMixHD w/ D2SD = rubbish, RCMixHD w/A2SD = one of the best ROMs ive used.

Good call on the SMS Backup app btw Khaaan!, just tried it, very impressed.

1: You have unrevoked to root yep? So you have clockworkmod recovery. Boot into recovery with the ROM zip on the SD card - no need to rename anything. Just create a folder called 00ROMS or something and plonk zips in there for ROMs and flash via that folder from recovery.

2: Sense free ROMs such as DeFrost, Cyanogen 6.1, Oxygen - All are very slick, Cyan has the most features and is updated the the most although Oxygen is going to get Gingerbread pretty fast.

Cool, and partitioning before flashing a rom?

Via ROM Manager although you should really be using AmonRA as it's the better recovery!

Downloaded ROM Manager and I see the Partition SD Card option. Will this wipe it I presume?

Also when I go to click download ROMs it says I need to have ClockworkMod recovery installed, but I already have that thanks to unrevoked?

As far as I know partitioning the SD card will wipe it but not 100% sure on that. I backed everything up first and then copied it back across.

Rom Manager uses a fake flash version of Clockwork Mod Recovery rather than the one installed onto the phone. Install it using the top option.
