Suspicious?

OP is being paranoid.
the sugar was probably on offer.

who really cares what the man wanted it for. its his business

I saw a very dark skinned man with a beard in real life once! I gave him my best 'I know you're a Terrorist' look, he knew I'd sussed him and this obviously stopped an imminent massive terrorist attack, I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but I probably saved thousands of lives. They are everywhere, you can't be too careful, stay alert and always carry a Daily Mail in such a way as they can easily see it, they'll know you're not to be messed with then.

What you failed to spot was his friend in the outdoor section buying all the fertilizer!
It was clearly a terrorist and you should report him asap :p

Certainly a strange sight though :D

It's 2am on a weekday at a 24 hour ASDA. You are at the checkout line and the only other customer in the whole shop is waiting behind you, and all he has in his trolley is about 20 bags of sugar. Nothing else just sugar. Would that strike you as being suspicious? Not trying to suggest anything but I will add he is dressed in Pakistan/Indian garb with the beard and all that.

Thought maybe he runs an Indian restaurant and they ran out of sugar but what the hell are they cooking that needs 20kg of sugar at 2 am?

He is the owner of an Indian Restaurant and need the sugar for sauces, deserts and chutney. I expect he does as every restaurateur and buys in bulk.

Crazy stuff, report it to Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, Scotland Yard, Special Branch......blah blah....

Either that or he has a herd of Donkeys.

I recently bought a box of latex gloves, bin liners and some carpet shampoo at 2am ish from a 24hr supermarket

Make of that what you will - Murderers shopping list :)

I needed the gloves to fondle the inner workings of my van without getting oil all over myself, bin liners so I could empty the crap out of the back and the shampoo to try and get the oil I'd trodden in before the wife saw it.

I don't see sugar on this:
