If you had 25,000 to spend, would you...

Its ok buying supercars (or kit around that class) for 25k but they are still supercars to run. Thats the benefit of hot hatch, cheap affordable performance.

If I was spending 25k of my hard earned if probably get an M6, however im not sure id like the cost to run it.

To a large extent, that's the decision I made switching from my S3 to my R36. The problem with the RS6/E55 AMG/XJR grouping is that the running costs rise again, as does the age of the vehicle which generally means you're going to be spending more keeping it in fine trim.

I'd love an XJR, but I'd probably want a bigger budget for one.

Youd get a top of the pond XJR for that money, an absolute beauty.

Mondeo ST220
Trailer
Fiesta ST kitted out with 350bhp supercharger, striped out, caged etc etc. Leaving about 5k spare for some slicks and race fuel.

perfect combo id say lol.

At the end of that though you have a FWD track car to use 10 days a year and the rest of the time your driving a £6k quick Mondeo.

When you could have a 500bhp+ Mustang, 335i, Evo etc.... for every day?

my thoughts entirely.

Don't see the point in having a fiesta purely as a track car and driving a mondeo everyday as a result.

there is no way id park a Mustang, 335i, Evo or anything like that at work or anywhere around here for that matter. Id be afraid leaving it anywhere. Where as a Mondeo doesn't draw a lot of attention. And who says the 350bhp Fiesta couldn't be used on the road at weekends?

Its a dreamy thread anyway. No way would i want to spend 25k on a car. I need to get a house/flat first.

If you're scared to leave a half decent car in the areas that you frequent it sounds like that £25k would be better spent funding a move somewhere else :p.

My best mates Dad has an 08 plate A6, s-line trim, 20" alloys etc, its stunning, not sure what he paid, either way it wasn't cheap.

We went to a restaurant in a rough part of east london and he parked up and I asked him that exact question about leaving it there and he responded with

"Couldn't give a ****, it's insured"

Fair point imo.

Back on topic, I'd love a C6 corvette like displayed above, the V8 burble would be hard to beat but I'd look at porka's as well :)

What a load of tosh.

I live in one of the safest places to leave your car, which is evident by my awesome insurance prices. However, no where is safe from careless people in car parks.

Iv parked my Bentley outside all me shops which by virtue of being pawn shops are all in **** areas, nothing happens. Aint worth worrying about.

Oh right, I don't care if my house gets blown up then, it's all insured. The point is that a) you are trusting that the insurance process will restore your pride and joy to exactly the condition it was in beforehand and b) forgetting the hassle and expense of excess and time spent sorting it out, having a crappy courtesy car, etc.

But still its not worth driving yourself mad, or you end up driving a 500 quid Mondeo.

I knew what he was talking about :) Probably because I think in exactly the same way - going anywhere was always a chore in the ST, as I was always so weary of parking it anywhere.

Thats what you have to do or do a 6am Tesco run before all the knobs are out.
