Has anyone else come across a petrol station that says for example 119.9p per litre for normal unleaded on the big signs, but when you get to the pump, it says 126.9p? That is exactly what happened to me today.

I didn't notice until i had already started pulling the trigger. I ended up putting just £2 in and going elsewhere for 116.9

It is illegal.
Doesn't happen around here, but I paid 125.9 for desiel yesterday in tescos, and they are the cheapest around here by at least a peny, prices have jumped in past week.
Suppliers are taking the ****.

Same for home heating oil, prices went fro £400 for 900litres to £470 in past fortnight

I've noticed a couple of stations around here having the LED boards with the numbers completely switched off so you don't know the price until you're at the pump!

I dont even look at the price on the signs outside so wouldn't have a clue if it was different. Prices are starting to take the pee a bit though

I had the exact same thing, it's not until I was halfway thru filling up I realised I was putting in V-power diesel in my car at £1.29/l... :( Sign on the front of the station said £1.21/l, my fault for not checking the pump!

Now if anything is worth protesting about right now, it's petrol prices!

Yeah what happened to fuel protests?

We have so called students tearing London up because they may have to pay some more money at some point. Maybe.

Yet hard working tax layers & companies get bum screwed with no lube over fuel.

Ho hum.

From memory, laws on advertising mean that if the advertised price is accidentally different to what they actually charged, they're not obligated to sell it to you at the advertised price (though they may choose to for good will), however once informed they must correct the mistake.
If on the other hand the advertised price is deliberately different to the price you're charged, it is a case for trading standards.

Having said all that - check you're picking up the right pump and check the price on the pump before you start filling her up!

a total garage, in dudley? where abouts is it? you should fill up at the bp just outside merry hill, very competitive. oh and i'd also say you've picked up the super unleaded

Hmm I have seen some applegreen stations that have two prices of equal prominance with discount price in small text below the prices that are about 10p per litre cheaper then the proper price. Quite what you have to do to get the discount price I do not know.

On the sedgley road Click
We normally go to tesco's for the clubcard points, but the tank was very empty, and i didn't fancy running out of juice going up that big hill.

Never come across this myself, I already pay a few pence more than the sign (I use V-Power mainly) but i'll certainly check from now on if I use Tesco et al.
