***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Anyone done the B-SPEC yaris race yet even fully tuned i'm getting nowhere and thats with a level 5 driver always below 5th place.

it's drivinf me mad and the last gold i need for the b spec beginner series

I did it with minor mods and a fully customisable gearbox, i just upped the top speed a bit and he would be able to take people on the long straight.

Anyone got anything they can lend me for the British lightweight in B spec ( I think it's in the Amateur or beginner section? I sold my Elise 11R when I completed A spec because I didn't think I would need it again (idiot I am)

Oh and ck88 done with your lambo cheers for that, if you could tell me your PSN so I can return it :).

Some of you may remember the popular Forza 3 vs GT5 AI video, some reviewers even used it as part of their review to downplay the AI in GT5 claiming that Forza's was far superior, well,

I always thought that the original video was set-up to try and make GT5 look worse.

I can loan you a pretty tidy TVR if you like ? Bit of a beast but fast as the proverbial.

I gave my B-speccer a RM'd Tuscan. He failed miserably :( An 800BHP Electric Orange Mclaren F1 fixed that :D :p

I've only done a couple of B spec races but it seems choosing a cool driver is more rewarding than having a hot head in a fast car ?

I'm meh about B spec but it seems like I'll have to get involved to progress A spec.

I have one of each atm, neither are anywhere near as fast as they should be :p

Thankfully B-Spec gets much better when your driver reaches level 20..

Mines 21. He seems better at oval NASCAR than real circuit NASCAR (With right turns and all  ) Clearly he can't turn right yet :p

Did some research on how to win "Like the Wind" B Spec event and found an article which I don't think I can post because of competitor links but this is something mentioned there.

"Why you can't win? The situation in Gran Turismo 5 B-Spec is that although you have a level high racer but he will slow down to around 130 - 140 going into the turns. If you went back to the driver and ran the race with a level zero driver, he goes into the corners and maintains 190 - 200 throughout and win easily! If you keep him in the red, you should have no trouble nearly lapping the competition by the end."

Now my driver is not level 20 yet so I don't know if there is any truth in this but I do know for a fact that my B spec driver does brake way too early.

Can someone confirm this for me as it can't be right. In the Amateur series on the 'Clubman Cup' I've got a Gold in all three races yet I didn't get anything for it. That can't be right. You always get a car or something.

I'm in the process of doing this with my Lv21 B Spec driver and hes wipping the floor with them in the Minolta, on the Indy track in Like the Wind.

Just watching him now hes slowing down to.....180ish for the corners.

You can enter individual events but you do not get the series trophy unless you do the events sequentially as part of the championship.

Run through the events for experience and practise, collect the credits, then do the championship for teh win and more credits.

it took me agaes to do the vw camper van race to get the top gear test track, i was gonna smash the ps3 it was so frustrating. what gets me is sometimes you only touch them and it disqualifys you and other times you can ram into the back of them and it lets you carry on. wish it'd make its mind up.
anyway the relief when you get gold is great:)

Finally got the Veyron last night..... What a huge piece of crap. The thing is far too heavy.

I wish it could be sold!

Ah I see. Yeah I didn't do them in order I ended up doing the last one first, not dileberately, though. Ah I'll do it again then!

I also spent 50k buying some very old Alfa and tuning it up to compete in the Beginners Euro Classics race and it is rubbish! Hurts spending money on cars which turn out be sheeeeeeeet.

Good video, it just shows that people who say the cars never stray from the racing line and are absolutely brainless are wrong.

I haven't even looked at B-Spec yet but for the Yaris race the Yaris you win is incredibly underpowered compared to the others even after I tuned it up. The best way is to keep an eye on the used car market for a Yaris Turbo, which comes with 147bhp as standard. A simple oil change, air filter and perhaps a few other tweaks should be fine.

Right now my progress is being halted as I'm waiting for specific cars to turn up on the market to do races!
