LOLFacebook! Anyone bored already?

They came first for the Lolfacebookers,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Facebooker.

Then they came for the Cool story bros,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a cool bro.

Then they came for the Jesus pics,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a bored conservative voting bloke.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

lol cool poem bro

There was a reason though, because subject wasn't remotely funny imo :p

Haha that's fair enough :p

It's more the mandatory 'putting down before things even get going' that irks me. There have been other examples but that was the most recent one.

To be fair some of the replies were funny though, I do see your point though but sometimes the first few replies of a thread can make it seem like it's not being given a chance but it can all depend on who gets the first few replies in

The obvious solution is to ban Facebook threads.

Agree with this.

Its frankly stupid to ban people for saying this, there are plenty of other stupid things being thrown about and put into polls that I'm sure people find equally annoying but nothing is said/done about them.

I would make a sticky thread covering all the dumbest possible facebook, wrist watch and "is it safe to eat 1h old food" threads.

There that just cut down 50% of GD

I don't think people want to turn things into a tea & crumpets, isn't everything nice, civilised chat all the time.

They just want a reduction in people spamming **** memes all over the place before threads have even had a chance to get off their feet.

did not succeed at what?

do you only want people to post if they have something positive to add?

I'd be happier with that but then I live in my own little world which is full of joy and smiles until some rude people intrude... It's not really that people always have to be positive about everything because some threads can only ever be pointless spam but in a number of cases someone will make an unnecessarily harsh reply in the first couple of posts to try and get the first "comedy" points which will then be copied by dozens of other people in a PC+1 exercise - sometimes it would be nice if people just clicked back instead, the thread may not be to your taste, it may be unfunny and will never rise above that but if that's the case it'll probably die quickly enough.

Yes, let's all have civilized chat, with no spam and always remaining on topic. Because that's what GD is all about. No, really.

Why is it always extremes? It isn't a suggestion of killing all the fun here, it's just a question raised about some memes that (may) have outlived their normal life yet are still being used.

By jove I think he's got it. This is a bit like the request in Motors a little while back, there's no desire to stop people having fun, just sometimes a little bit more thought and a little less being objectionable for the sake of it.

I just say what I think as do many others so I don't think it's always about trying to win comedy points, and if I or them are one of the first to reply then it can look like we're being deliberately negative but that's the nature of how forums work imo.

I often just close a page rather than writing a reply but as I said sometimes I just say what I think at that moment and hit reply, positive or negative.

I'd rather see a mixture of views , serious , funny, positive or negative rather than everyone being in agreement.

The mods are definitely playing with fire on this one, that's my feeling anyway. Banning meme's is basically just stifling the community and making it less likely that people will bother coming up with something funny in future out of fear of infractions.
I could be wrong, I hardly ever see over-zealous modding on this particular forum so I might well be (except the removal of the 'two ***** don't make a right' poster, that smacked of PC).

Hopefully you can see where everyone else is coming from.

I don't have a problem with negative responses as such, but the same crap joke repeated for the 538th time that week isn't clever, funny or interesting, it's just boring and annoying.

memes can be funny when used cleverly, timed well or in response to just the right comment. Sadly most people on this board seem to just pick one and then post it in every thread they feel like replying to, to the point it's not funny any more.

I do see and understand everyone elses frustration as I feel it too sometimes, but I don't think anything should be done about it (in a admin/moderation sense). People just need to learn how to ignore the things that annoy them.

Really? So you think it's ok for the same members to constantly make the same single word posts over and over again?

Infractions are being issued for repeat offenders as it's just tiresome and boring and, at the end of the day, just spam.
