Does anyone think Frankie Boyle's joke about Harvey was funny ?

reason im askin is that Xfactor final is about to start an i need a destraction whilst its on in the background :)

He's a modern day Bernard Manning, relying on saying shocking things which others consider unacceptable to be funny.

Not my taste i'm afraid.

Lol, just having a comedy dig; hence did it in the schoolboy homework format with green pen :D

yeah I picked up on that mate, an I thought your comeback was quite funny :D , reading my post back I was actually a wee bit ashamed haha,, my post was about some other dude who obviously lost the plot a wee bit lol

To add something constructive to the thread, I think he's become too crude. I liked him in the early days but in later times on Mock The Week he started to be a bit too over-the-top in terms of trying to shock to be funny. I stopped finding him funny around that point.

Take Hugh Dennis as an example. You hardly ever hear him swear on that show but yet he manages to be just as funny as anyone else. He also rarely ever uses the shock factor.

tbh Johnny I went and seen him recently in Glasgow and it will be the last time. Seen him few years ago at the Fringe an he was really good, but this time, even though I laughed, he's not as good as he was, which is a shame really, I think he's better than the shock treatment.

I am VERY pro-speech.

But in all honesty, I don't think I understand the joke. Can someone explain it to me?

It's like if I said a joke:

'Why is big ben called big ben? Because if it fell over it could kill a disabled fat bloke called Ben hahahaha'

I mean - why is it funny?

I like Frankie Boyle and i can understand how people might get upset by the jokes about Jordan and her Child. But everyone knows what Frankie Boyle is like. If you Dont like it Dont watch or listen to him.

The part about fighting for custody was funny even if it wasn't very nice.

Some other classic Frankie Boyle Jokes. The Dianna one cracked me up.

The thing about his stuff on MtW was that a lot of the stuff was not shown!
There was no way the strongest stuff was let through by the lawyers, etc..

As for the actual material, I never found it THAT funny. Sure, it's highly offensive, but I think that's all it is, or rather that what it's trying to be.

Jimmy Carr is equally offensive but ****ing funny. Boyle tries too hard.

He was funny and edgy, his book is really good and from it you get the impression he has utter contempt for the industry and society, he's plainly a shock jock and there's no such thing as bad publicity for his new DVD that's out now £9.99.

His new series is a bit dire, I looked forward to it but I'm not fussed now.

Jimmy carr is miles funnier because he's so quick witted.

Stuff like this shows how talented Jimmy Carr is

Improv on the spot comedy that funny takes talent.
