OMG Amazon down

Not quite - their site was hosted with Amazons distributed/cloud servers and they pulled the plug for breaching TOS/government pressure.

Besides, it isn't anon (cf. IRC).

Yes, but they did have an Amazon account donation, as I looked on the website myself and saw all the ways you could provide money to support them.

This kind of thing is going to be the reason a lot of larger companies are (or should be...) worried about cloud computing and the various flavours of outsourcing their platforms... I noticed one major high street retailer who uses Amazon to host their web presence was also down.

The minute people begin to be inconvenienced by actions related to Wikileaks is the time when any public support they have will begin to disappear....

The crackers/hackers or cyber-terrorists/freedom fighters or whatever you wish to call them will only hurt wikileaks in the long run.

They would be better off targeting .gov sites.

Who would notice if they targeted gov sites?

It's probably having problems because it's being hammered from people buying music. Sunday night's the busiest night of internet shopping.

The media for a start, especially if it were something high profile.

What media attention? People en mass are stupid and live within their own bubble.

Headlines in the next few days will be dominated more by the X Factor final. :(

Yeah well that's if the media notices. I would be more impressed with Amazon going down. Or possibly a US gov website. But UK gov websites - pff who cares?

I would have a lot more sympathy for wikileaks if they revealed something shocking like they had covered up Roswell, or 9/11 really was an inside job. But in reality it's nothing information of little real interest.
