A sad end to Jinro's cindarella story, but tbh he got outplayed every single game by MC's openings.

****ing battlenet!

I got three disconnects mid-game this afternoon, three losses that would in reality be my wins. :(

Never experienced that before?

gonna start playing online but i feel i suck to say the least, as soon as i have to start doing multiple things im not fast enough.

whats the matchmaking system like? am i going to be frustrated with defeat after defeat?

choosing more random then a set race now, makes me realise that protoss are so friging underpowered! both zerg and terran are pretty much mass up and push, protoss may have their lovely shields but it means bugger all when they cost twice as much for about the same firepower.

they need to sort it out!
im getting sick and tired of seeing the same terran bs of mass marines and tanks.

You've got to start pumping collosus as soon as possible really. I know it sucks but you need AOE against a 1/2 base Terran/Zerg.

Honestly I couldn't disagreea more. Protoss are the most overpowered race in the world (IMHO).

Have you got any replays showing this? I can't say I've seen any evidence for protoss being underpowered at all. In fact iirc the statistics for the win/loss ratios were released by blizzard (the link is somewhere in this thread) and it's pretty much around the 50% mark for all matchups.

Is it too late for a complete begineer to get into this game at this point?

Never played any of the star craft games....

I know this isa long shoot, but games like RED Alert 2, for me where the perfect rts game. Is star craft along those lines?

Really? Protoss are rock hard to beat. you just need to improve your timing and build orders by the sounds. Make more use of Sentry's too.

Its never too late for Starcraft. Its updated so much by the community in terms of tactics and gameplay its like playing a new game everytime :)

its similar style to RA2, in which you train single units etc. Starcraft is a little more intricate though :)

perhaps its just me then, maybe i dont suit protoss after all.
I just find them quite a slow race as in it seems to take an age to build anything - maybe it is bc i dont collosus when i should dunno

+1

The only matchup I have problems with is Protoss, I'm Terran and beat other T and Z 90% of the time if not all the time.

just started playing online and i find protoss a difficult race to play as. think its because there low tier units tend to require a bit of micro and i suck at it all.

No offence but nobody here can actually say if anything is overpowered or not. Unless you're in the top 200 or 300 you're not good enough to judge balance. Up to the very highest levels, if you're better than your opponent you will beat him no matter what race he or you are playing. Don't blame imbalance because you're not good enough to win that matchup. I'm terrible vs zerg but that's just because I'm terrible at the game, not because zerg is overpowered.

This sort of comment is really annoying, correct me if i'm wrong but in the latest stats published by blizzard, toss has more than 50% win rate on almost all ladders vs terran. This is where 99% of SC2 games are played, there should therefore be some consideration of the people in these leagues.

What is a little bit more difficult to back up is that even in pro games, TvP seems a little difficult. Terran needs to apply early game pressure which is impossible due to FF on ramp, if the game progresses to late game, often toss just walks the game.

The stats are different in all regions. Toss have a better win rate vs terran in some regions and terran are ahead in other regions. Either way, the percentages are extremely close and mostly balanced. Looking at pro games tells you different things. There's been 3 MLGs and each race has won 1 of them. Zerg has won 2 GSLs with a terran or protoss going to win the third. Terran has by far the most overall tournament wins. There's nothing definitive about balance when looking at these stats, it's all too varied.

The reason protoss has a higher win percentage in lower divisions is because protoss is mechanically easier than terran or zerg. This doesn't make them overpowered. It means new players can pick up the game for the first time and do the best with protoss. This "advantage" is nonexistent in mid-high diamond though, which is why the win percentages are much closer at the highest level.

I'm sticking to what I said though. It doesn't matter what race you or I play, the better player will win every time.

Would appreciate a link to stats (i couldnt find one) the team liquid forums indicate that T is significantly behind P. From the MLG etc comments that you made it sounds like zerg is better!

No race is better than any other race. Protoss at the time period of that article were doing well in the ladder. Terran were winning every tournament outside of Korea. Zerg were winning the GSL. The stats are meaningless.

The races are balanced for us, the "imbalance" that may be there is so small that it doesn't effect even high diamond, it might affect very high level of play (pro-gamers)and even if it does that "imbalance" is very small and looking at the statistics within the margin of error.

You may be thinking tvp is in p favour because of jinro vs mc but mc knew jinro inside out and was simply the better player. (i say there is 90% mc and thus toss fins gsl this time, rain is not up to the task).

In any case what do you mean by T is significantly behind P? Terrans and their strong early game + all ins easily qualify lots and lots of terrans for tournaments everywhere.

Also the top 200 always have more terrans than other races. (i think its because of strong early game and all ins, just my opinion on it)

Bottom line, unless you're a progamer with 250apm the little imbalance there *may* be, wouldn't affect your game.

You could ask for some tips if you're having problems with a particular MU, we would be more than happy to help.
