Z4M update - Eisenmann exhaust

£600 for a backbox, surely not!?

the eisenmann backboxs do cost that much.

the Backbox new for the E92 M3 is over £1500

If you want a full system for the M3, like the Akrapovic made from titanium, thats over £4000.

Exhausts for M cars are generally not cheap.

Even the cheapest Remus exhaust is £760 for just a backbox.

Quite. That was the cheapest Eisenmann option for my Coupe. Quad pipes were around a grand and then the Race system even more expensive.

FWIW, the full Akropovic system for the E92 M3 adds about 35bhp.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

And I thought JDM y0 stuff was expensive! 1400 quid for a pair of backboxes??!?!

This might give you a better idea of why they can get away with charging so much

You really are buying a quality item.

Of course some of it is a premium for the name. But as with everything, the best quality items usually demand the highest prices.

**** the bed, I did look on the site and thought it was that for a full system.

I know its different design briefs and whatnot, but thats a ridiculous amount for an exhaust that isnt even titanium.

To put it in perspective I can get a turbo elbow back Titanium system for that OR:

Tubular manfold
Magnex 3" Modular Turbo Elbow and Downpipe
Blitz Nur Spec R cat back

Basically engine back 3" all the way, for the same price as some backboxes? Crazy.

I'd be interested to see if you can find a german manufacturer producing similarly priced parts for jap cars.

Most of the other German manufacturers seem to be similarly expensive.

Pretty much the going rate to be honest. When I was investigating the options, SuperSprint was a couple hundred less, and anything else just looked and/or sounded cheap.

Totally worth it as it doesn't sound like wet farts and it's all hand-made Deutsch überkwalität..

Akropovic are properly expensive (although to be expected for titanium), and those are made in Slovenia :p

Sounds like it ;)
It was hanging too low for his liking (ooer!)
It's a common issue apprently, I mean the things are made by hand to order. How many requests are they going to get for a backbox on a Z3 3.0 Coupe? :p

Come to next year's RR and you'll totally wet yourself

The Akrapovic system for the m3 is north of 4k

Worth it though apparently.
Like I said - adds 30bhp (tested on the same rollers before and after)

Nice exhaust Booner. Any reasons why you opted for the Sport over Race or another manufacturer? Not that I think you've made a bad choice but interested to know what swung it for you.

I'd really like to fit a set of RPi back boxes to mine but fear that the drone would be too loud at motorway speeds. The only thing I can see that would work for me is a KKS switchable unit, but at £2,500 just for back boxes with no performance gain it seems a bit steep for some added noise.

Isn't there some issue with the RACE being road legal or something ?

I belive the Db level can push the limits of what MOT testers consider acceptable. (depending on your tester of course)

Just to clear up a few points raised.

I managed to get a good deal from a fellow owner who was upgrading to a supersprint exhaust. Total cost to me was £700, however I will be selling my exhaust and fitted myself to keep costs down.

I wanted an exhaust that wasn't mad, too loud or chavvy...but something that retain some of the S54 character and also gave it pop's/farts and bangs! Everytime I let off or change gear, it lets off a few fireworks.

I think hearing this thing in real life is enough to convince you that the money was worth it, I am literally falling in love!

Tbh I might revisit the brackets as it sits lower, but it's on the stock hangers and it's simply due to the different design from what I can tell whilst under the car.

Bargain, and it's run-in already. Brilliant.

Not convinced a SuperSprint is an upgrade for that other bloke though ;)

Oh yeah, I can really see, such good quality the tips don't even line up with the bumper right.

On a 335d test car?

Regardless, I still don't know how they can justify charging £1400 for stainless steel backboxes, I'd still think it expensive if it were half that price.
