Anyone had any dealings with Mountune or Dreamscience

I know roller figures are nothing, but I just know off driving my car, it has very smooth constant delivery of the power it's got, using the Code:Red map, I can't comment on the day to day drivability of DS, MT, or BF maps though.

Will look at that option also, thanks.

Looking at a replacement panel filter K&N direct replacement [ im assuming the cold air intakes offer nothing more than noise over these]? Also a Mongoose exhaust at £445.

Anything else i should be looking at?

If you're not going the Mountune route, then the Dreamscience intake offers a decent performance and audible improvement - you'll need a decent intake if you're planning on chasing anything beyond stage 1. The DSCi intake uses the same style of intake as they used when tuning this lump for the RS and it sounds absolutely savage :)

Trouble is, all the decent CAIS are around £400, Intercooler is around £500, Downpipe and sports cat is £500, then your catback at £445, by the time you've bought a remap (Let's say the DSCi - £625 for their Stratagem unit) you've spent nearly £2.5k and still only have a car that is around equal in real world performance to a Mountune'd car - only you've spent twice as much.

This is where you realise the value of the Mountune system. Of course, future upgrades are a worry, but take it from an ST owner - My Stage 1 Bluefined ST was fast enough and was on the limits of what is exploitable by the the standard chassis IMO - and the Mountune kit produces a faster car (although, IMO a more usable power delivery).

Was just pricing up what i would need when i spotted your post. I got to £1900 without a 200 cell sports cat  . Mountune it is then, wonder how long they would need the car for?

remember the Mountune doesn't include an exhaust, so if you take that away from that 1900 its much closer.

Mountune site states 1-1.5 hour fitting time.

The panel filter is a drop in item, so they are literally just fitting the intercooler (bumper off job) and putting the map on.

Get an insurance quote first, too. Many insurance companies recognise a Mountune car as a model in its own right (Focus ST260 or Focus ST Mountune 260 IIRC) and thus you can often avoid getting shafted for driving a modified car.

As for the exhaust, I paid £440 for my Mountune exhaust direct - if you were to call up HQ (I think you mentioned you were going to go there for fitting?), explain you were an FSTOC member, and asked if they could do a deal for both, they'd do something for you.

My insurance is quite cheap but, i will make sure to get a quote. at my age i dont think it will make a great deal of difference but you never know.

one of there open mornings we watched them fit the 260 kit to a Focus. Bumper doesn't need to come off, just the splash guard(engine tray thing?) and some of the covers above the bumper to allow access. Took the 2 guys 45minutes, the remap was uploading while they put the car back together. Sure without an audience they probably take a bit longer, but it was impressive how fast they turned it around.

Might be popping down to see you afterall :)

I assume you know Dave or at least have dealt with them?

I don't know Dave, but whenever ive spoke to him he has acted as if I've aways known him. If customer services sold kits, Mountune would be the only guys selling them.

He used to be part of Performance Ford mag, so ive met him a few times at Performance ford track days etc.

Wow, that is fairly impressive as there isn't a great deal of space there. Obviously a well thought out item - another point for Mountune's R&D that has gone into this kit :)

Do they have a rolling road?

not on site (at least the bits we saw), i think they go down to Dunton Ford works to do the testing. They have a engine Dyno I believe, not a RR.

it was a tight fit but slotted in easy. But then I'm guessing when you fit a few of these a week you soon get used to how to "wiggle" things into place.

Got mine delivered the other day and that cost £400 from Graham Goode

Join the owners club OP you can sometimes get cheap 2nd stuff or can join in on group buys, I got my remap for £240 and my exhaust and race cat for £400 due to being in the OC.

Was quoted £1300 fitted by Evans Halshaw MK today, not to shabby. Also a mate is modifying a HKS dump valve to fit :) waaaaaaaaaa tssssschhhhhh

Do you happen to know which insurance companies will do this?
