Any XC90 owners here?

Oddly enough I quite like the look of them and the 2.4d seems pretty frugal for what it is and doesnt cost a fortune to tax etc just wondering what any owners think of them :)

It wouldnt be new, probably a 2006 thereabouts if that makes any difference, anything I should know about before driving/looking at one?

Arrgh!

I hate these things HATE them !

Frugal? yes,but so's my Scania, for what it is.....

Horrible nasty things, a probably totally irrational hatred of them on my part, but **** me! I'd love to see every one nuked!

In a nutshell, some friends have had one since new, and they are getting very fond of trying out various loan cars from the Ovlov range as it goes back & forward getting this & that sorted again & again & again.

Just no. :p

/rant :o

Supposed to be quite good, despite the bizarre rant above.

Indeed, which is why they got one to replace their previous X5.

Alas, in this instance, they have had a very very bad experience.

And given that I simply don't like XC90's anyway, a chance to vent was not to be missed! ;):D

Its as good as my E46 320i.............. :D

I just fancy something totally different my cars of recent have been....

Golf 1.9 tdi > Audi S3 > Bmw 330ci > Nissan 350z > Seat Cupra R 225 > Pug 306 HDI > Alfa 156 2.4 jtd > Audi A4 1.9 TDI > Audi TTR 225 > BMW 320i (and thats all in 5 years lol)

Mate had one, a fortune to fix but so would any motor in this class, my S80 is really nice, refined and just... well damn nice to drive and be in, it will just cost me an arm and a leg to keep on the road :)

Im still looking, didnt realise there was a difference?

The 2.4D is 140hp, the D5 is 163 or 180 depending on age. Both are 2.4l 5 cylinder engines. I doubt there is a significant differance in economy. Weak points on both engines are the injectors especially on early examples but most of these will have been changed by now.

My sister has one. They bought it as they wanted a large car but forget using the seats in the very back, there is very little space for a child let alone an older person. I am sure larger than a Kuga (which isn't that big at all).

Also from the recent weather here, they appear to be crap in the snow for a 4x4.

My brother-in-law has one, although it's the 3. something petrol version. I think it has a Yamaha developed engine in it, the fuel consumption is low 20's at best.

I've only been in it a few times, but i found the seats were very comfy and his had all the kit. Test drive the diesel and see what you think, it's quite a nice place to be on a long journey.

Are rear wheel drives that bad in the snow? The home of BMW has worse weather than us and they seem to survive with their Mercs and Beamers.

They're functional and frugal but that's it really. Unless you need 7 seats and some decent loading space then get another 4x4. The engine is rattly, unrefined and underpowered. the D5 isn't underpowered but the other points still apply. The interior is meh, even considering the bland interior of the X5 and Disco, it's still very meh.

The seats are comfy though. That's something good about it.

Unfortunately all the cars in the sector are lacking something key, it's just that the Volvo is more lacking than the others.

I wouldn't mind one of these myself, during the really bad snow they'd only cleared one lane of the A2 to Derry, while we were all crawling along at 30-40mph I watched as one hammered down the other lane without so much as a twitch.

For real? Haven't you seen all the BMW's abandoned by the side of roads?

Not forgetting the numerous 4x4's abandoned in the same way.....

Not so much the cars, more the drivers inabilty to drive in a manner suitable for the conditions imo.
