After seeing all the stories about this years insurance renewals prices I was dreading mine, especially as my missus had a £4k+ claim go against her about 6 months ago

so opened the envelope expecting the worst

The quote for 2 cars ( Cayman S and a TT ) including business use for both of us £871 , 30 quid less than last year

I almost feel humbled enough not to ring up and haggle ;)

Whose this with?

I got a renewal with bell this year which was identical to the internet price - and lower than last year. Very impressed, every other time the renewal has been crazy.

Unfortunately they would not budge on the price over the phone though :( They have every other time so perhaps this is a new set of procedures.

Perhaps with the insurance rises Admiral are simply trying to keep customers with their renewals rather than trying their luck.

certainly would make sense, maybe instead of ringing up folks were just going to price comparison sites and getting cover elsewhere

I look forward to my renewal - now I no longer have the ST on the policy, I don't think they are really that competitive, but it could just be how they operate when changing cars mid-term.

Tossers. They wanted about £550 more than last year for the Evo.

Thieving miscreants.

I always manage to knock Admiral down, every year.

So do i, but not this time. It was the one time where the renewal had been totally reasonable, and identical to the internet price.

I am thinking that there is definitely something different happening there, as this wildly differs from the LOLrenewal you used to get, followed by massive phone discount.

My renewal has dropped £200 on the VX from last year (was hoping for nearer £500 based on quotes I did before buying it!). After having a look around I can't get within £100 of it so will let it auto renew.

My renewal went from £1040 to £570 with Greenlight (highway underwriter) without any haggling, but obviously no point insuring my car with a ban declared whilst I'm still banned. All I did was turn 25. Hopefully it will still be around the £1k mark when I'm no longer banned :s

My one came in slightly down on last year too. After a bit of ping pong I only managed to score an extra £25 off (making it £37 less than last year) but I did get protected NCD and free future modifications thrown in to the deal.

Like you I was surprised as all I heard was doom and gloom on the insurance front.

Hitting 25 is the biggie. I went from a group 4 car to a group 17 in the same year that I turned 25. Net result- only had to pay £20 more!

Admiral wouldn't even knock £15 off to match my (fictitious) existing insurer's quote. Still think I'll go with them as its almost £700 cheaper than my renewal.

looks like they have a new strategy then

Be intersting to see how other have gotten on recently

My Elephant renewal quote was £25 less than last year's as well, gone from 6 to 7 years no claims so doubt that made much difference and previous renewal quotes have been a fair bit higher. That group are well over £100 cheaper than anyone else which is a fair saving - I'm getting old and a group 17 (or whatever the groups are now) car is only £330/year :)/:(
