This Is England '86

It will be a complete travesty if this fails to bag any Best Actor/Drama etc. Lovey-Lovey Do's Awards they like to throw at 'Soap Stars' and 'Celebs'. That rape scene in Ep3 was the most harrowing acting scene I can ever remember watching but it was so well done I couldn't take my eyes off it. Amazing work from all involved.

The series is more light hearted and it felt a bit like Skins set in the 80's (though it's several magnitudes better than that dross).

Have you watched season 1 and 2 of Skins?

Much better than This is England 86, which was pretty poor and is a shame it carries the name of one of the best british movies of recent years with it.

"Show some shocking scenes" -> oh what a great drama this is!!

There were some good scenes and good ideas but it just didn't seem to fit together as a whole for some reason. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it - it was decent enough but I don't think it was as great as everyone is making it out to be.

Woke this thread up to remind you that the sequal, This is England '88, starts on Tuesday 13 December at 10pm on 4 and is on every night that week.

Awesome, although now that the guy who plays Woody is in Misfits I'm going to subconsciously expect him to suddenly come up with some bizarre and dirty one liners.

Been really looking forward to This Is England '88 for a few weeks now :)

The trailer looks good and also still has all the original cast ...apart from Meggy by the look of it?!? Where has he gone!

Let's not forget about This Is England '90 too (are they making this one into a film from a rumour I've heard?) with filming supposed to be starting next year, this is going to be good too :)
