First days are scary!

Remember to develop the attitude that the company IS the IT department. Some idiots will tell you it's there to manufacture goods or sell services and that the IT department is there to provide a service to the rest of the staff to help them meet this primary function - but make sure you show them how wrong they are.

Must be a new guy... The industry will soon knock that happiness right out of you. :)

Central to everyone's needs, but bottom of everyone's budgets and opinions.

I have been in IT a while now (coming up on 7 years!) and still love it?

Must have worked for some dreadful companies.

The IT Admin is superior to the CEO because he could change his email password if he wanted to.

Went really well :) A week in now... a lot to learn though!!!

Before you do ANYTHING think of the answers to these two questions:

1. Have I backed it up before I touch it?

2. If I **** it up, how do I undo it?

and you'll be fine.

Oh and don't do anything where anyone can see the potential ****up.

Sort of in your position at the moment, my fourth official day in my job which is Junior Software Development - currently staring at SQL which makes very little sense in what I want it to do... But it will do eventually.
