New PC Won't POST

they're just a basic speaker and should be working fine but it is possible it's goosed.

have you anyone near you who could spare u gpu to try out? or you could try your ram in their pc maybe?

i could be wrong but i thought pci-e as backward compatible with pci, just sayin as you may be able to use your old gpu to see if you could get output using it(ignore, nkata just covered it) :p

I found another of those speakers from another build and it doesn't beep either so probably not that.

I think they all have laptops. Will have to check tomorrow and see. I think I'm done for tonight anyway. TBC and thanks for the advice so far everyone.

Give your thread a bump in the morning, someone with a bit more know how might be up and about to help ya out more. Good luck mate and let us know how ya get on. :)

Remove the RAM and restart if no beeps indicating RAM not fitted I would say the MB is goosed!!!

:)

I've done that numerous times and still no beeps. Yeah I was thinking mobo is shot however I seen on a thread I was looking when searching for answers that a dead processor will also mean that you get no beeps. Is that your understanding?

Without another system that I know works to test things in I'm not sure what to rma.

Post photos, if you can, of the power leads going into the motherboard. I know people have mentioned it and you think it's ok, but I and several others I know have been caught out with incorrect power connections before.

At work just now so will certainly do that this evening when I get home.

Hi Mate,

Sorry to hear your having problems. Im sure it'l all work out in the end, been there myself with GPU bios updates and all kinds.. :)

Quick query, did you use the stand offs when you mounted it on the case? Or is it touching / touched anything that could have shorted it out?

Thanks. I installed the processor, fan, ram, case connections, front panel connectors on the box that the mobo came in before moving into the case. Then installed the psu as it is easier to get the board in when that's not in the road. I guess I could have shorted something but I would go about doing the build in the same way again and its the same as I have always done in the past.

I've actually never had to return any computer components before. How long does the whole process take? Does everything have to be scrutinised before a replacement is sent? I suppose it does as they have to see why it failed? Let's hope it doesn't come back that it was my fault. Just wondering as I will probably have to go back to my other pc if it's going to take a while to sort?

Pretty much everything likely has been suggested/covered already. Only things I can suggest are:

Make sure clear cmos jumper has not been left in.

Remove cpu and check underside for damage/pins then reseat and try again even if no damage is evident, wouldn't be first time I've had to reseat a cpu in the socket as it only take the minutest amount of oxide.

Good luck.

Yeah done that too when I changed over from the AC fan to the stock cooler. There was a bit of thermal paste round the edge of cpu chassis. It wasn't near the pins just round the edges near the top however I think I will take another look at this again just to be absolutely sure there is nothing there.

Yeah when I posted I had more or less gone through absolutely everything I could find on the issue. Just so annoying that I have no other components to swap around to check if it is the processor or the mobo. I'll get there in the end.

I sent both the processor and the board back and the processor was fine and the board was replaced under rma however the new board which arrived today is not working either. I'm ready to cry.

Am I just unlucky are gigabyte boards prone to being dead on arrival? Looks like I will not be able to get this all up and running now before Christmas.

turn the psu on? switch on the back.

are you sure the kettle lead is ok? check the fuse.

turn the psu on?

Not sure if you are being serious or not but I'm going to assume you are. PSU is on, fan spins on it. CPU cooler fan spins. Case fans spin. No sound from speaker. Memory in, memory out. PSU connected to both the 24 pin socket and the 8 pin cpu power socket.

didnt bother reading the thread.

Doesn't get to boot. Screen doesn't activate. PS2 keyboard lights come on and you can select caps locks, num lock, etc and the lights come on. Tried memory in all slots. It's exactly the same as it was the first time.
