Dell messed up

Yeah this is my dilemma, I don't know if I'm comfortable with just saying nothing. I may wait until after the weekend and then call them up, or send an email to the chap who dealt with my order originally.

To be fair, I'm not sure that anyone on the forums can tell you if you are comfortable with this...

Going by dells record, maybe they're just sending you a spare for when the inevitable happens. :P

TBH I'd contact them and let them know, but make it plain that you will expect them to chase you, and after this single email advising them you willa wait their instructions on how to return it. if they don't, their loss.

Bizarre. It's probably the right thing to do but what are you trying to achieve, just knowing you did the right thing, or a £10 dell voucher or what?

Why's it bizarre? If Castiel is uncomfortable with keeping something that doesn't belong to him then surely that's enough of a reason? Other people may well feel differently but it isn't their dilemma at the moment - if Dell wish to reward him for his honesty or not is in some ways a separate issue.

I'm going to email them in the morning.

don't be a no swearing - Gilly Castiel

keep schtum and keep the free laptop! think of it as an early xmas present

or if you were really clever - ask for a full refund - then send the original laptop back and keep the extra - :) this way u'll have a free laptop

My missus needs a new laptop, so ease your conscience by posting it to me :p.

Wish I received 2 Dell 13z notebooks when I ordered, meh. Instead I received 2 sets of car mats when I ordered them online from a dealer. Kept them both though!

Some people aren't comfortable with breaking the law.

I once had 2x £250 digital cameras arrive when I paid for one, was from an ebay shop based in Japan

I sent them an email to tell them, they just said "Our mistake, just keep it"

Ended up selling it and buying a PSP with the money :D

It's totally down to you but personally I don't think my conscience would let me be able to just keep it without contacting them.

Good on you :)

Nice one, honesty is the best policy. :)

Dell will miss the laptop, its not like it was a repair for an old one that isn't worth collecting.

Email dell and tell them about their mistake and let them arrange for collection.

Do this twice if you dont hear back from them. If they never get back to you to arrange collection within a few months, then just keep the laptop and emails as prove that you tried to contact them.
