ati 10.12 killed my system.

Suffering with multiple issues after 10.11, overclocks crash just as described in the OP, can't install new drivers , can't fully remove old drivers (even using system restore, driver cleaner etc...) Looking like a full reinstall is coming up.

On 10.12 only thing they won't seem to like is Alt tabbing other then that no problems, But im using a 6970 so i exspect problems with drivers untill they fix them for a new card.

lol ive always installed one driver over the other untill 10.12 when i got a BSOD when installing the drivers... had to uninstall and re-install drivers now its ok.

Why do people perpetuate this urban myth of buggy ATI drivers?

lol!

I used an nvidia card and never, ever once had an issue. Ati I havent had many but just look at how many people compared to nvidia post just on these forums- look at how many times they patch them, look at the 6000 refresh where they have quite clearly fixed some issues with crossfire- exactly how is this a myth?

I am not saying amd are inferior but its a fact more people <seem> to have issues with amd drivers- that either means worse drivers or only idiots buy amd! They dont command enough market share to pull the old 'well everyone uses our cards' line.

Well AMD do have the market share.

The amount of people complaining about amd drivers is disproportionate to the number of users taken against the number of nvida users compaining about drivers.

I m not knocking the cards, but you only have to look at the changes in crossfire scaling, the optimisations in architecture, the quality settings changes, the fact every driver comes with several hotfixes, the borking of powerplay...and the old- my gpu has stopped working.

I am not saying amd are crap, but any of the above should not happen with polished drivers. I love my 5850 to bits, just there is a lot of room for improvement and they are not at nvidia's level right now.

And you have the figures to back that up with sold ATI cards & NV cards ?.

I believe iviv has that one covered!

Bear in mind I would guess 25% of those nvidia cards are driver dead as in 8800 series variants that have eol drivers on them compared to 10% amds share (3000 series ect) but seriously, point me to a thread/post complaining about nvida drivers.

Then point me to one for each and every single driver release.

Then point me to one for each and every hotfix for each and every driver release.

I am not asserting the drivers are borked but clearly either people are being idiots AND using only amd hardware or amd are doing something wrong; which would lead towards borked drivers.

The steam figures have been used before & have been proven not to show the facts of market share for many reasons & i can not help that fact the you had missed the discussions at the time.

ok be clear, because sorry, I missed that discussion- do you think that the far greater number of threads complaining about amd drivers is due to sheer number of owners?

There will be incompatible issues with some set-ups ~& there will also be user errors with some of them & there will also be faulty & failing hardware ect...

And yet out of the thousands of ATi users on this forum you see a few people with issues every month.

But neither of us have the % figures to people with no problems to people with because its only the problems you hear about.

I see your point dude, and that is fair enough- I am in no position to say you are wrong.

I ve been dissapointed by each release after 10.5 and to be honest, either i havent noticed or looked or there just arent, nvidia threads saying the same thing the amd driver threads do.

Good drivers should work and account for picnic errors. I find it a bit strange some people making out they are 'super users' (not yourself) mock people with less experience who do things that arent totally unreasonable and end up with borked systems using standard drivers.

Thanks for the straight answer, I cant prove otherwise here, would be interested if gibbo or another mod said how many were selling of each brand, cos they are trying to sell amd stock at cutthroat right now...nvidia is selling at what it asks for- amd had a good six months but people keep graphics cards for years and the 460 really hit the value pricemark and they never lost the top end.

To support my point because being honest I havent looked- are there ANY nvidia driver whines on ocuk?

It all depends where you look as i'm sure if i go over to the main NV forms that i will find users with plenty of issues with NV cards which will not skew the perception by pollution of a particular brand on a given forum.

This forum is predominately ATi ATM if i go to a mixed forum that is predominately NV then things would seem different.

Its been known for a while that ATi have been out selling NV & any change over the last month will have no reflection of the overall ownership statistics of the past year.

I disagree with you but my facts are based on teh interweb and we all know how that goes!

I think that amd sold a lot more over the end and start of this year but the 460 brought it back, either way my point is that you just do not see nvidia threads complaining about drivers like amd users do.

Whether that is due to volume of users or quality of drivers- neither of us can really say.
