We all eat stuff at xmas that we wouldn't bother with for the rest of the year, since it's mostly horrible.

Sprouts, Cranberry sauce, mince pies, xmas pudding, mulled wine etc etc.

Is there any food specific to xmas that you actually like?

pigs in blankets.

But bets is
turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, gravy, cranberry sauce, door stop sandwhiches on boxing day and a few days after that.

Not having turkey this year though

Also sprouts are pretty darn tasty. sliced and stir-fried with honey and cashewnuts, you could even chuck in some smoked bacon lardons. It's all about how to cook it and not turning it to tasteless mush.

I eat sausages and bacon all year round, just not sausage wrapped in bacon.

We also have sprouts every sunday and if we're doing chicken then its sage and onion stuffing too.

Exactly.

If people really liked xmas foods they'd eat them throughout the year, not just at xmas.

expense, availability, sheer size you need to feed a lot of people, time to cook, calories.

If it wasn't for those details, I would eat Christmas food throughout the year.

Yep, par-boil 'em for a few minutes, halve them and fry with a little honey and cashew/pine nuts with chopped bacon or panchetta.

DELISH.
