Edit: What pit in strength do/should I set it to?

On the first 3 events, my guys did well with 30%. From the Indy 500 event onward I've had to set it at 0 so they pit in when they either destroy the tyres or need fuel.

Almost had an epic failure on Tsubuka 9 hour race. AI pitted for tyres and fuel but the retarded crew (or lack there of) forgot to put the fuel in :o

Good job my PS3 is new and has a 3 year warranty :D

Edit: What pit in strength do/should I set it to?

10% at most, if its a simple track you don't even need to set it, he'll pit when his tyres are dead

In the Fiat 500 seasonal is there any point in adding custom transmission? I just cant get anywhere near first - usually 8seconds behind and normally only get to 2nd on the first hairpin of the last lap...

TC is off and all other mods have been done...

ps3ud0

There is, if you lower the top speed you'll get better acceleration and still won't hit the limited on the back straight

Massively, without it you have so little acceleration on a track where the top speed is about 75 in that car anyway... There's a post a page or two back with all the details but basically you need to get the gears as close as possible and get the bhp and weight on the limit (with all the transmission upgrades done) to get there... (I think a manual gear box helps too to get the last corner right)

You'll need to try and not drop below 34-35mph at any point in the track and be smooth/consistent to get to the front, all you need to be is about a second off first at the last split before the race end and hammer them on the back corner at 70 odd mph as the ai goes to around 60-65 ;)

The 4th one with the dodge is so easy! taking it to 156mph max with the gears gives you the best run down the back straight to victory! :D

Had a truly amazing online race tonight.

BMW M3's only on the Nurburgring, all assists disabled.

I pulled away at the start and built up a 12 second lead before overdoing it on one of the many fast corners, put a wheel on the grass and lost it. The spin caused the second placed guy to catch up and we then proceeded to drive within one second of one another for almost two laps. He was right behind me for all that time, he tried to overtake a few times and just couldn't do it cleanly. I was under a lot of pressure having him behind me for so long.

He did run into the back of me once, but he didn't take advantage of it as he knew it was his fault, he waited for me to regain my position before going flat out again.

On the third and final lap he touched me just slightly on one of the many flat out corners and it was just enough to put a wheel onto the grass, which at 150mph was goodnight for me. I spun and he took the lead and this time he didn't seem to think it was his fault. I ended up getting a 'short cut' penalty on the subsequent corner due to the accident and that gave him too much of a lead for me to catch in the remaining minutes of the race.

Overall it was thoroughly enjoyable, to be driving within a second of one another for almost two laps of the ring is not an easy thing to do, especially right on the edge with no assists.

Online racing has certainly given me the GT bug again.

Finally got gold in all the seasonal events, with some tweaking of the GTR 09 i managed to put in a few 1,26.2's and overtook the ford GT on the second corner of the last lap coming out of the tunnel:D

now i have 2.5 million credits and jumped from level 18 to 22 :)

Well the update has made grinding a whole lot easier and I no longer have to look for a Formula GT car as there was one in that new online store thingy! Happy Days! :D

Cheers man that helped quite a bit - got me into the 1.20s that I needed. Looks like the lead car does it in 6.42 so you really need low 1.20s after the first lap to make it count. Seems impossible unless you do a very low 1.21 first lap and all other laps after that are under 1.20.5 which is really hard near the end when you just dont have enough cars in front to slipstream against - if you arent 2nd by first hairpin of lap 4 I dont think you can do it (next spilt needs to be sub 10s)...

Got to 1.7s of the lead car on the last spilt (just before last hairpin) but didnt realise it had superior acceleration so got 2nd as I just wasnt near enough to slipstream.

Then began the repeated restarts (its 3am so Ive been at this race for hours :/) and finally did it :D. Guess what my trick was? To **** up that lead car into the last hairpin - just kamikazed it and took it out and won! GT5 just makes winning too hard so knew Id never get a better chance...

People complain about the Top Gear events - that Fiat 500 seasonal is pad breaking with the concentration needed. You need to watch your speedo/revs and make sure you hit the corner after the first hairpin and the last hairpin perfectly as effectively long straights follow them. Another tip - minimise gforce so its under 1 as much as you can - you wont accelerate otherwise (dunlop 'chicane' is a good example)

That just cant be won without a custom transmission...

LOL - see my post above - made that before I saw yours - exactly my same experience. Its literally hitting apexs properly (need to cut corner after first hairpin) and ensure you keep the car in the power band for acceleration. I just couldnt get near enough after the last hairpin to allow me to slipstream the lead car :(

My mid-corner speeds were:

1st hairpin - 41/42
Next corner - cut @ 35
Dunlop 'chicane' - keep gforce under 1
Final hairpin - late apex @ 32/33
Final corner - just keep your foot in and unwind steering smoothly - should exit it doing 65+

To be honest you learn more from that race than you do in the license tests...

Finally got myself the Toyota Minolta race car after completing like the wind. That thing is bloody amazing stupid quick and very grippy on soft slicks.

Also got my first NASCAR after golding all the geoff gordon events which is wee wee easy with a DFGT

Looks like I have something to race for tomorrow now im at the right level for the like the wind races...

Yeah the tests have lost their edge this time round a little (though the applied overtaking ones are fun)

I found the last corner you should be in 5th hitting 70 and just using the momentum of the corner to take you past everyone, loads of fun as the car is pretty grippy...

Just wait for the later ones! For some reason the RX7 is stupid to drive (though I havnt given it a wing) and the final one is too much fun if you get the top end GT-R spec v '09 as with some extra downforce it feels a little like an F1 car (closing the gears a bit helps). I got 2nd on my first complete try of it (too tired to do it completely now) but it looks easy enough to do if you set the car up for uber confidence :D

Yeah my new favourite car is the GT-R spec v just for feeling like a 450bhp go kart

Anyone know how much bhp an oil change will add to the RX7 '90 thats used for one of the seasonal challenges? Needs to be under/at 204bhp and starts off at 197.

2nd seasonal was pretty easy...

Spec a de cat exhaust (500cr) that will bring you to bang on 204. Add a wing if you want, if you're still struggling lower the gearing with a fully customisable transmission

I'd imagine it varies on how dirty the oil is, but if it goes over you can just do a quick race to bring it down.

Ta guys - ended up doing the exhaust mod to make it 204bhp - am automatically doing the custom transmission as a default (probably why I never have money :p) but wish I bought the rigidity thing instead. Body roll is just epic on the RX7 on Deep Forest...

I used the ZR-1 race modified to do both events in the like the wind series but belive me on the daytona road course the Minolta car was half a second of my ass every lap. You should be able to take the corners on the oval at circa 200MPH with all aids off just throw it in hard and let the slip of the rear carry you round the corner and you'll come out wide on the exit. Definately helps to have a wheel tho rather than a DS3
