5850 Or 6850

Thanks lol. Apart from you not being able to read the graphs(which we're working on), any other reasons you didn't like my review? To sum it up, the 6850 gets beaten constantly. I can't see how you're missing it!

For all you stating your current card is redundant then you have missed the point.

If you have a 5850 or 5870 already then thats fine.

My point is buying into a 5 series card now is not a wise decision.

You my friend are incorrect...
Just got two new, very nice twin frozr 5850's. easily overclock them both to 5870 level and cool and quiet. The total cost for the 2 was £250. (remember it wasn't many months ago these 5850's were selling for £220 EACH) That WAS a wise decision. Why on earth would i spend more on a single card that is basicly just a refreshed version of the 5XXX series anyway? Is it a wise decision to spend your money on something because it has a 6 instead of a 5 at the front of it? Is that what you are saying? Because if you are saying the 6XXX is better and the wiser choice because it's "newer tech" then you have been slightly mislead somewhere.
Twin 5850's (and remember that in twin 5850's you basicly have a 5970) for less money than the 6970 and almost less than some 6950!! and look at the performance comparisons and it all looks quite a little less simple than choosing a "6" because it's newer easyrider.

I don't sit running benchmarks all day or the like i just stick fraps on see how the old fps is doing and i know for certain that a couple of bargain bought 5 series AMD's snapped up right now is a very shrewed choice and will run every single game in the future that any of the 6 series will. When the 5850's start to struggle on any game i play then i can be damn sure that a single 6970 or 6950 is going to be also. so why spend more ;)

A little edit:
I'd also like to add that I think ATI/AMD have cause a great deal of confusion with their latest series of cards and the naming/numbering them. I know a lot was said about it at the time on sites by reviewers and the like but I am now seeing in forums all over people really struggling with making correct comparisons with these cards. (many who are quite well seasoned in the PC hardware world also) It really was poorly done of AMD.
My 2 pennys worth :)

Overall the site is fine, but the graphs are the major problem.

Just copy the same layout as anandtech, toms or firingsquad.

How they are at the moment is frustrating.

I think the charts are fine in the recent reviews, no need to change them. And keep doing the overclocked benchmarks, very useful they are.

It would be great if you could give a small description of how a game was benchmarked, for example, if it was a fraps run and what part of the game this run took place.

This 5850 is better than any 6850 and 6870. Soz.
Your getting much more for your cash here ££££.
Bigger GPU, better cooler, better clocker and better reselling value.
Graphs are poor from that site btw, headache time...

Don't know about the 6870, but from reading this it is more powerful than the 6850.

you can quibble all day about little differences here and there and keep splitting hairs but you cannot argue with the huge price differences that are to be had. It's quite considerable which makes it quite a one-sided battle.

why

the two 5850 are roughly = 5970.

they look lvl to me and they will run cooler with this heatsink on. This 5850 MSI TWIN FROZR is a non-brainier in single or crossfire configuration over the 6850...

I have SR on ignore.
But I highly doubt that MSI 5850 is better than my WC'ed 1200MHZ 6870's. :p

EDIT : And that graph shows the 6850 Crossfire as good as the 5970... Yet his point is "Get 5850's". Absolutely pointless. He doesn't get anything. He's just erratic.
