***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Indy should be easy as pie, your driver should walk that one and get gold. It's the ones that follow that are evil. My driver managed to scrape a win by literally 5 points thanks to the random nature of the positions the other cars tend to get throughout. Think it was something like 1st, 12th, 5th, 1st, 12th he got in the races. Or it could've been first in the final race, can't remember now.
Either way, max downforce so he doesn't spin out all the time (at least, not quite so much) and try not to push him too far into the red if possible, b-spec drivers spin nascars really easily I've found.

I assume you had no problems with the german event then :)

BAH!!! I HATE THE MINOLTA!!!! Why is it too light to break stably or accelerate!?!?!?!?!?!

Anyway what car did everyone use for the Gran Turismo All Stars in the expert series as I cant get the minolta round any of the tracks without wanting to throw it into the sea!

The Minolta is an awsome car ! Stick some racing soft tyres on and make quick work of the all stars championship.

Ive been trying the Formula gt race today and its dammed annoying. AI cars ride ya arse all the way round just waiting for a mistake. Lap 15 in Monaco and I got smashed by the ai into the chicane on the long straight and they all took over me and ran for it (as if I was holding em all up as the pace car! ) That ended it for me.

It means he can lift less round the corners than the other cars, and it doesn't hurt him significantly on the straights. Those NASCARs are as aero dynamic as a block of flats anyway :p

kk well he's on race 3 again anyway so i'll let him finish tthe series then start again. my driver should be level 20ish by the time he has finished do you think you could try find the gearing set-ups i had a look but had no joy with forum search

No all done mate i just need to oil change the astra and i'll send it back when he has finished the indy series in a hour or so

HAHAHA what the hell! maybe i'm just slow and only just noticed it, but just loaded up GT5 to the start screen went to fetch a cup of tea and it was playing a jazzed up christmas music:D

nice little treat, i dont usually hang around long enough to listen to the music.

Yeah I wanged on the super soft slicks and it still just spins on me every time I get near the edge of the track... :(

Probably need to set it up better or something (maybe take the stage 3 turbo off it too)

Have you tried the anti skid race option ? might help stability. I dont recall the car ever spinning on me and found it a joy to handle compared to the z1

I got the Take Your Honda Home trophy earlier, anyone else done it?
lol, no. I've heard of it but can't be bothered, I'm not the trophy hunting type.

So I'm about 27 A-spec, 30 B-Spec. Finally got the FGT car thanks to the online collectors thing, about to try out those races, wish me luck.
When I'm done I've got about 1m in the bank if anyone wants a car in that price range?

Here's a driving/setup tips video some of you might find helpful:

It's amazing what a difference just changing the tyres can make. I was struggling on the intermediate tarmac rally, changed from sports hard to soft and am winning stages by 6-7 seconds in some instances.

Edit: 14 seconds on stage 3 :)

guys what car should i use for the Japanese Classic in beginners?
Either one of the 70s Skylines in the online list - just do a few mods and youll be fine IMO. The problem is that fast old Japanese cars dont turn up that often in the used list...

ps3ud0

I'm struggling a bit at level 16. It seems that whatever a-spec race I try to enter I need to buy something pretty special which I just can't afford. For example, there is a championship where I need a race car, lambo or something else equally high end. The only exception is a German only race but there is nothing suitable used or at the dealers.

I just find myself going back to the specials time and time again. What am I doing wrong?

I had trouble with some sticking points too! Just grind away at the specials and other races till something good shows up in used or you can do some higher level races. Don't try to do them all in order. Try getting b-spec drivers to do all the races they can too, this gets you moneys and prize cars.
At some point I won the Minolta and Toyota 7 race cars, can't remember what for tho, sorry.

Sure you don't want to keep it till you hit level 22 so you can do the touring car championship?

edit: Here's the settings:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18004212&postcount=6492

I used these settings and didn't do 'that' great, certainly not as great as the guy makes out. But I DID win, even if only by a few points.

thx for that i'm at level 22 now so i'll see if i can get the touring car championship done with it. if you need it back in a hurry then let me know.

cheers mate

Ok great I will try that. My b spec driver is only level 2 though. I just bought the zr1 for the world championships.
