Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

Did it just let go all of a sudden or did you notice the shifts were getting a little dodgy?

Also, running a car like that without a warranty? I thought you were cleverer than that Mark ;).

He who dares wins, it was 4 years old 20k miles, its a piece of ****, they aint even well made. Never again.

Zero good will from AM by the way, at least Porsche chip in when they **** up if the history is right.

Sorry Josh missed you there, it just went, the shifts are rubbish anyway you wouldnt tell if it was going or not.

A friend of mine just has his IMS go on his 2005 997, needed a new engine and the car was just out of warranty. Porsche comped him the engine, $15k's worth and just asked him to pay out for labour. It's things like that which help you justify running such an expensive car every day.

I know 2 people with new engines thanks to Porsche, im not saying they are perfect and they do take the **** with servicing but what im saying not very well because im thick and cant write is this....

Gibbo aint got to spend the whole 45, 35 will get him a belter, that i just cant see beaten by anything on that list if you want to drive it day in day out.

You know what im talking about, here we go in the Ferrari, oops bumped curb 1500 quid to sort the suspension, not to mention bad seats.

AM, dont make me laugh, if bits dont fall off it breaks down.

Japs, well they are Japs, get a 997 son, its what you need.

As I said earlier in the thread, I adored my F430 but it had one fatal flaw. I wasn't rich enough to run it without losing sleep over it. Every day I wanted to take it out, I was so afraid of something breaking and costing me $5-10k; that's no way to own a plaything.

The reality is I *could* afford the bills, I just wasn't comfortable with them and as such, it got traded!

I dont care how much money anyone has no one wants to keep throwing it at cars, you got kids to waste money on.

Id never have another Ferrari, sod it Bentley is the way forward for me, i might go mad and get a Mulsanne next year when i retire for good.

An NSX-R whilst not many peoples cup of tea is, unquestionably, seriously unique. OK, its hillarious money for a Honda that looks like the 80's even in the NA2 revision, but it is a real head turning car. Before I moved to Watford in 2007 I'd only ever seen 1, after that point, I saw a further 3 cars (1 I was parked next to in a carpark which I ended up chatting to the owner to, she had owned it since new, 1 was owned by the parts manager at the Honda Garage I used, and the other I would see from time to time in central london.) Based on the way I know you drive, your the kind of person who could bring the best from an NSX and have incredible fun on the track with one. However, I do accept there are A LOT of people who would think it madness to spend this much money on a Honda.

45k for a NSX-R? Unless you convince 1 of the 2 owners in the country to sell there's for that, it's more like double that.

Z06 or GT-R. Z06 would win hands down for me if it was RHD.

If you're lucky by next year they might actually start making Mulsannes that'll actually pass a PDI :p.

I do think Gibbo just needs to have his head (911) and his heart (Z06) have a bit of a battle.

From the short bit I know from talking to him (and seeing him drive!) I think the Corvette is a little bit more him.

This is why I wont buy an E39 M5 :(

Its a wonky persons car, the thinking man buys the Porsche, mature, fast, good image, its a winner!

I didn't realise the TT RS's had such a nice sounding engine, thought they were just 2.0 4 cyls or something. They can look pretty damn nice when lowered a tad also, much nicer looking.

And the raving nutter with an ASBO buys the Z06 .

Thumping V8, immense road presence, supercar worrying performance and reasonable running costs.

If he genuinely doesn't mind LHD and American cars in general there is no reason why it shouldn't be right up their on the shortlist :)

Not that I wish to interupt the TT-RS love-in but can we all just remember HOW MUCH this thing actually costs?

It isnt some sort of plucky giant slaying bargain hero. At it's being price you get, for example, a 'Concert radio. AM/FM twin tuner with TP memo function. Single front-loading CD player with MP3 compatibility'. Exciting stuff.

So clearly a few options are required - by the time you've picked only a few choice options, this car costs..

FIFTY THOUSAND POUNDS.

So calm down on the excitement at how it isnt that bad performance wise. It damn well should be, it's a FIFTY GRAND TT!

Doesn't sound good to me?

Sounds sort of like a cross between a washing machine on it's spin cycle and a air raid siren.

I know cars have sounded worse but please remember it is on the same shortlist as a 7.0L pushrod V8...

And then can we remember that for it to produce some properly awesome numbers you've got to start modifying it.

I don't think Gibbo has once mentioned the TTRS in this thread without mentioning something about tuning it a couple of sentences later. That says it all to me personally.

I cant get me head round the price the cheapest there is is 40k, so when he sells it its worth 25 for wait for it .....an Audi, wow thats just um well its an Audi.

Or he can spend a wise 35k and get 30k back when hes done and drive a proper car while hes got it.

Where is this road presence, with 10 year olds, the mature man, like myself looks at them and thinks of Smokey and the Bandit.

Not you Smokey26 stand down :)
