Seeing this for a princely £4 on Steam has made me sorely tempted. It'll cost me more though since I'll need to grab a joystick for it.

Has this got the balance right between arcade and sim? i.e. I can concentrate on shooting bad guys rather than altering fuel mixes? Used to play a lot of aircraft and space sims when I was younger and joysticks were a standard accessory, feeling a bit nostalgic...

Yeah its not bad, the graphics are the best you will see in a flight sim its just beautiful. Theres a arcade mode and a sim mode but its not like DCS series.

The only problem with it is the DRM

Well I played the demo and used both the XBOX controller which works ok.

My joystick is an old Logitech Extreme 3d Pro which works beautifully.

I do seem to recall that the game control section actually lists the Saitek ones. Might be a good bet.

In a previous life I was a hardcore flight sim geek. But these days I have less staying power and I think WoP is superb. Decent range of difficulty levels, missions that don't require realistically dull timescales, satisfying flight models, and great graphics. At £4 even if you don't play it for long you've hardly been robbed. :-)

Someone in the other thread just pointed out that it has a DRM activation limit of just 3. A deactivation limit of 9! Weird huh. I'll pick it up as I tend to keep an install on there, hopefully it won't be a problem for £4, but if lots of sales are made today, hopefully the dev will remove it as it'll do more harm than good to their reputation.

you saying you can only reinstall this 3 times?

i really wanted to like it but it annoyed me sooo much on pc

the guns dont run out of ammo they overheat!!!!
i got to a part of a mission where i had to accept or decline a submission up pops a 360 controller on screen telling me to press left or right keyboard didnt work i just gave up after that :(

Not quite. You'll often find that the game has 2 forms of DRM. the first is steams delivery content platform and yes that you can install many times over. the 2nd will be the publishers DRM such as the install limits etc and these are what really bugger the whole thing up. Steam has no control over the publishers DRM unfortuantely.

Needed what a mess.

Always fancied a flying game but their all sims meaning complex controls or annoying hud i.e the plane insides take up a lot of screen space and best if u use a track ir thingy which i dont have.

Hows this for a person wanting a flying game with nice gfx, ww2 action, simplistic controls and more arcade than sim gameplay i.e not too realistic with plane issues and ammo and fuel and damage model, and a possible good chase view cam instead of cockpit cam and would it work well with 360 pad?
