Muslims against Christmas?

Yes but one of you do & you seem to go hand in hand in these topics. (I'd stay away from Castiel he's giving you a bad name).

Grow up. You have every right to be a bigot, equally I have every right to point it out to you.

If you don't like it, join a forum more suited to your views where you can rail against all those different from you in peace.

Dirtydog will never grow up.

We should just do the same when they are fasting, disrespect their traditions. Works both ways. As much as i hate Christmas myself, i think this is completely absurd.

So for a couple of loonies, you're thinking of stooping down to their level? Shows your intelligence.

To be fair that is nothing to do with the point the previous poster was making - he responded to a post about slavery in Islamic countries with an example of an Islamic country with something which could be considered a modern equivalent of slavery.

Being treated as a lesser human being, having your passport taken away, not necessarily being paid for months, not being free to go, living in tents, working in unsafe conditions....

That's not to say the same thing doesn't occur in other countries - though you'd expect better from a technologically advanced country with a high GDP per capita - unfortunately Arabs view others as less than them - westerners are tolerated but Indian laborers (who don't follow an abrahamic religion) are viewed as sub-human.

Thank you, you understood my point perfectly it seems.

Please, is there any chance of a Muslim bashing free Christmas ?

I for one am sick to the back teeth of such threads.

Exactly, every week we see the same old stupid thread being started usually by your typical daily mail reader with news extract in hand...

...all end up the same, Muslim bashing...why don't they leave...etc etc

why can't people give it a rest.

Mods...can we not just stop these threads a bit earlier as they are clearly not going to lead to anything constructive or informative. GD is a good laugh most of the time with the odd serious story in there but these do very little for a "family orientated" forum, nor for OcUK forum reputation.

/morning rant over.

Merry Xmas to EVERYONE. :D

...Chill out and listen to the Pope's thought for the day on Radio 4 even if your not Christian (like me)!!

Christmas is not a pagan festival.
It's celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Fine, the date of birth isn't exact, and the timing is set to coincide that of an ancient pagan festival, but Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

See below...

Jesus was born in summer, the Christians just found the pagan festival and decided to use it to celebrate him instead. Most of the traditions you see are pagan, like trees ect.

lol at the poster in the op. I just find that funny. Don't like it in the UK? I think we can all make a suggestion using a correct number of stars. **** ***

While we're there, shall we close all other threads that raise controversial opinions? The forum would die. The OP broke no rules. You are not made to post in said thread.

How about these muslims join 'another country' more suited to their views?

If we did that then how long before anyone who has a different point of view is deported.

Don't agree with the government?, fine, deported.

Against tuition fees...deported

Against european union....deported.

And so on...

Sorry, I am not seeing a downside yet. :D

He doesn't specificly mention deporting, he just says they should leave and join a more suitable community.

Which is pretty spot on.

Edit - I hasten to add, he also only refers to the Muslims in the OP. Seems that, although intentions are good, people are getting a tiny bit trigger happy with condemning the posts of others.

He stated they should join a country more suited to their views, the implication is clear. The point being that if they should join a country more suited, then where does that stop, any kind of difference of views will be met with, " if you don't like it, move".

So no it's not spot on at all, when we limit the rights of one group to air their controversial views then we limit everyone.

I don't think the statement 'they should join another country' equates to 'we should force them to another country'.

Alternatively, 'if you don't like it, move' is a completely fair proposition dependant on the circumstances. If anyone is that deeply upset and offended to an event so harmless such as Christmas, such as the creators of those posters in the OP, then it seems quite clear they should move elsewhere or get over it because it's such a totally unreasonable opinion to have in the first place.

I think you might be putting too much analysis into his post and have found a meaning that probably wasn't intentional.

Maybe you're right, but I also considered patient keepers posting history on these topics.

Also who decides in which circumstances it is ok to say "don't like it move", how about all those who fight against regimes whose human rights records allow such attitudes, "hey if they don't like it, move"

I still think that they have every right to air their controversial viewpoint however idiotic it is.
