Boiler died - Merry Christmas...

Luckily I still have central heating, but nae hot water as I'm waiting on Mario getting the part he ordered to fix the boiler... No immersion heater either as I have a combi boiler so no hot water tank.

Cold showers aren't pleasant at this time of year....

Cold weathers killing everything at the minute. Came home 2 nights ago and water was ****ing everywhere in the garage, had 3 bursts in 2 pipes, near pooped my pants. It sucks but just tell yourself these things will pass and you'll soon forget it happened, as my wife said, don't let it ruin your Christmas, have a nice one.

Leave the door open... ICE RINK¬!

Oh great - woken up this morning to find no heating or hot water, and the boiler is as dead as a... well, parrot...

Amazingly, our 'emergency cover' insurance tells us they will send a heating engineer around tomorrow, but on previous experience I doubt very much whether they will have the right part(s) to fit on the spot.

So, I'm off to buy some fan heaters (assuming anywhere has any in stock now).

Merry Christmas :(

Get a oil radiator - far far far better than a fan heater.

water got into the pipe, how this happened has yet to be determined.
Could be a harbinger of doom

Dec 21st last year more than 1000 houses near me in East Barnet (North London) lost gas when a water main burst and found the path of least resistance was to cave in a gas main and flood all the gas pipes! Presumably they must have been so corroded only the clay was holding the gas in.

It took a couple of weeks to return service and this year all the gas pipes in the area and also some of the water mains were been replaced.

Oh and after the gas was cut off electric heaters and hot plates were handed out to residents which promptly overloaded the electrical supply and left them without gas or electricity :o
