Not been here long, not posted a great deal but I do find the atmosphere to be relaxed and good humoured, I think the mods do a good job considering the size of the forums and the variety of topics covered. I also think the vast majority of members do a great job of "self policing"

I think a good lurk on here helps before diving in

my best bud, sorry about the pic quality but it's the only one I have of him ( ex kept / destroyed the rest ) this was a year before he passed away, he was aged 9 in this shot

Can I ask what breed snapdragon?

Tell me \o/.

Mods do a great job but I must admit I am very surprised with how many "right-wingers" there are in GD, some with quite extreme views that seem to be acceptable in todays society.

OcUK has always attracted mainly people from the right, from conservatism across to outright racism and fascism.

Shame, and I've never really understood why.

I don't think it is representative of society, the number of opinions aired here, only that we seem to dredge a lot of **** from the bottom of the ocean that turns up in our forums?

I actually started to create a thread about how much OCUK represents the country. I think it does in many aspects and probably does with its disgruntlements, but there are so many snarky comments I just feel on the whole people on here are perhaps overly bitter. Mellow out, OCUK :p

I've only got a fairly limited view of what goes on in terms of moderation but even from that it's surprising how much effort goes into keeping the place running at times. Not all moderation decisions are right and that's unfortunate but natural given that the mods are human and the sheer amount of posts on occasion.

I do think it's something of an achievement that most of the moderators can continue to post and have a laugh with everyone else without it being a case of "my position is all important" i.e. it isn't an issue where one member is perceived as more important than another. Of course that's just the impression I get from having been a member for 6+ years, other views will doubtless vary.

Semi-pro do you post as much as you used to? Hardly ever see your name cropping up anymore... although I'm not currently wearing my much needed glasses :o

I agree but I really am more important than any other member tbf.

There is no way the UK is as racist as this forum.

It just doesn't equate to what I get from people in numbers in real life.

It may be for some grumbles, for the rest its a minority making a lot of noise to a big audience.

Not quite as much, recently I've been pretty flat out with work and it's interfering with my posting. I'll be having words with work in the New Year to get their priorities sorted out. ;)

I'm also rather deliberately trying not to post as much in the threads about religion/immigration/race/Scottish independence as I've had my fill of them for the moment. The arguments aren't holding my attention and I've heard most of them before so I figure I might as well let other people who are still interested have at it. :)

I'll give you that although special is the word I'd use. :p
