***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Anyone got a suitable Dodge Challenger R/T '70 (no weight/power changes) that I can borrow for one of the seasonal events. Ive already got one ages ago but did some weight reduction that I cant undo - cba to rebuy it again :(...

Not downloaded the update with seasonal races and XP yet, will do tonight.

Doers the XP you win get added to your A-Spec level? How does the online challenges work? Can you do the same one again and again? Can you invite friends or is it against randoms? Have any of them expired yet or can I still do all of them?

yes XP is added to A-Spec, online ones are just time trials so just you against a leaderboard, none have expired yet :p

On Fugi? Doesn't matter, in FGT once you take the lead the cars behind drop back to about 10 sec behind you then match you. THERE IS NO ESCAPING THEM

I noticed this on all the races in FGT, at Fuji after being spun at the first corner I started to catch the leader by around 3 secs per lap and after I overtook him I was pretty consistently lapping within a few tenths of a second per lap with the occasional faster lap and the 2nd position AI would not dissapear more than 5 seconds away even though I cought him at 3 secs per lap and started to get quicker so I should really have been leaving him behind at 3+ secs per lap.
It stinks of the catch up system implemented in the NFS games.
The F1 racing of older GT's was one of the better races, especially having pit stops too, what happened to them?

EDIT: I just saw the side of the Playstation branded R8 Le Mans car. It has Gran Turismo 4 logos on it. They really were lazy with the standard cars

The branding on the real life Audi at LeMans in the year that car is based on actually had advertisements for GT4, :)

I also believe there is a catchup system in place, I noticed this in the 1st Like The Wind race, I was in the lead by 5 seconds after a few messy laps, the next two laps were a few seconds better and the 2nd car was still 5 seconds behind me.

I did have some great races in the Extreme Super GT races where you drive against NSX/GTR/350Z LM cars and I used a somewhat standard GTR '07 but with a huge turbo, on the straights I was faster but in the corners they were faster so the lead changed often.

haha, it's a quick money maker while you're doing something else.
I'm earning 5k per minute while I sit here and watch full metal alchemist :D
You get some good cars from it too. Toyota 7 = easiest way to do historic race car cup, no spending 20m.

Real men use the Countach '74 and hope for the best!:D

I think they just got the slipstreaming part of the physics engine totally wrong.

christmas music playing on the main screen :)

I noticed that last night when doing some B-Spec / Xmas pressie wrapping. Very festive.

I really don't see what people dislike about the menus to be honest. There could be a few more shortcuts I guess but on the whole I love its presentation.

Oh, and thanks to sp00n and griffo - the ZR1 tips worked a treat. That, and for some reason the soft racing tyres I bought for it didn't seem to be applied.

(Still prefer my Skyline though! :p)

Is the Extreme Historic Cup possible with the '74 Countach or will it be horrible?
Is the Toyota 7 a prizecar and from what series?

I'd really like to think that it's just because the AI drivers are "responding" to your quick laps by increasing their pace. Still not enough for them to spin out though
Is the drafting physics all that bad? I'm not sure if it properly emulates "dirty air" reducing your downforce in cornering.

In other news I have a spare
Impreza WRX STi Prodrive Style '01
Free to a good home.
That's a bug-eyes. Stock but rebuilt and race softs. I like the bug-eyes Impreza.

Who measures torque in kgfm? srsly?

Could someone be so kind as to loan me some cars (promise to give them back with a car wash and oil change) for the Seasonal Events race Bonus Races?

Would be utterly greatful, DeLiTa7x is my in game name :) thanks

Sydney would you like your car back? :D

I don't think I've got any of those cars. I've only attempted the fiat500 so far and I gave it an oil change so now it's too powerful -_-
Feel free to keep the Lancer, or pass it on.

Do you like a challenge? If so its possible, but will probably be the hardest race you've done thus far, even with a fully nodded Countach. I thought it was great fun
