***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

not the GT-Mode menu, the main-main menu, where you select gt-mode, arcade... uhm.. etc?
[edit]oh shhhnap, I bought a mini for the seasonal race, changed the oil on it thinking there's no way that would give me another 8hp.. and it did, over the limit . This is fumpin stupid.[/edit]

In other news I have a spare
Impreza WRX STi Prodrive Style '01
Free to a good home.
That's a bug-eyes. Stock but rebuilt and race softs. I like the bug-eyes Impreza.
311bhp 42kgfm 1430kg
Who measures torque in kgfm? srsly?
I'll take it if its going. :)

PSN-ID? I'll send it in 20 minutes I've just set a B-Spec race going. Take good care of it.

blah, I can't for the life of me figure out how to send a PM!
Make sure you're signed in and on GT5, I'm not seeing you in the send car menu.
[edit]Ah! Accept my PSN friend request

I noticed this on all the races in FGT, at Fuji after being spun at the first corner I started to catch the leader by around 3 secs per lap and after I overtook him I was pretty consistently lapping within a few tenths of a second per lap with the occasional faster lap and the 2nd position AI would not dissapear more than 5 seconds away even though I cought him at 3 secs per lap and started to get quicker so I should really have been leaving him behind at 3+ secs per lap.
It stinks of the catch up system implemented in the NFS games.
The F1 racing of older GT's was one of the better races, especially having pit stops too, what happened to them?

97 Laps of Route 246 f t w. The F1 event in GT4 was how extreme events SHOULD be. Utterly knackering because of the length (though with B-spec integrated with A-spec you could pit in for a driver change which was awesome, unlike the crappy system in 5), no clear cut winners because everyone was in the same car and the AI didn't seem to cheat too heavily, just overall a really enjoyable (and occasionally massively frustrating lol) race :)

I also believe there is a catchup system in place, I noticed this in the 1st Like The Wind race, I was in the lead by 5 seconds after a few messy laps, the next two laps were a few seconds better and the 2nd car was still 5 seconds behind me.

Responding to both quotes here on the catchup system, it's definitely there, no doubt about that. I was doing the historic event last night to get the Dream Race trophy, so I was using the XJ13 as it's the best of those three race cars. I was leading happily by between 1-3 seconds per lap until literally the last 5 or so corners of the final lap.

Then, SUDDENLY, a Toyota 7 is in my rear view mirror getting larger FAST. I actually had to block him on the final straight to avoid losing first. If he could catch up that quickly on the final few corners WHERE WAS HE THE REST OF THE TIME? Really hate cheating AI in any game but especially racing games, and especially in this day and age where that sort of thing shouldn't even be necessary any more.

Do you like a challenge? If so its possible, but will probably be the hardest race you've done thus far, even with a fully nodded Countach. I thought it was great fun

I tried this precisely once. Most frustrating experience ever lol I've done it in the XJ13 now (see above) but when I first completed the event it was in the Toyota 7.

edit:

Try quitting the game and starting it again, that usually does the job :)

No need to quit the game to get a new friend to appear in the list, just exit to the main menu where you choose GT Life, Arcade, etc. then enter back into the game and they'll be in the list.

Random aside: Could someone tell me why the acronym f t w (when done without spaces) is filtered? It's not like it's a swear or anything, unless there's another acronym I don't know about. Better than Sony's filtering though I guess, where you can't even type the word 'filtering' because apparently 'tering' is a foreign swearword and is therefore censored lol

Think it's used by a competitor for their magazine, or something.

Really? Oh. Corporate decisions like that continue to confuse me, 'ohnoes can't have a competitor's name being spoken, BLASPHEMY!' heh. Freedom of speech f t w :p

Oh well, time to go to the shop and get some snacks, then game time :D

Hmmm, I like a good race but it looks like this requires perfect driving and blocking/ramming the others to stand a chance which isn't really fun.

I guess I will wait until I win a Toyota 7 which I believe is a prizecar?
No way am I spending 20 million buying a competitive car.

Toyota 7 is a prize car for the Like the Wind race in B-Spec. Good luck with that :p

As for ramming them, I didn't once, I blocked slightly on the start/finish straight against the Toyota on the final lap of Deep Forest, but other that it was not too bad

Oooooooh. New Seasonal races. Might try them...

Also, *urgh* at the idea of nascar around the 'ring, that is going to be IMPOSSIBLE.

I came dead last in that one after being spun out by some muppet. But won as I came first in all the others.

Want me to lend you one? PSN: Speedsurfer1212

Otherwise just win Like the Wind B-Spec

Anyone any tips for the Focus ST seasonal race? done the same kind of tweaks as the last set of seasonals, but, even after what feels like 5 good laps 1m45s im 10 seconds behind 1st place. :S

I think he's on about the new seasonal events, not the NASCAR Championship. That championship was a walk in the park next to this. NASCARs don't and shouldn't do the ring. They don't even do corners very well, even with the downforce up to the max I'm getting hideous understeer

Ah yes, silly me for replying when only reading the post in a half-awake haze! lol

Question....

On the professional A-Spec I have golded all but the Gran Turismo World Championship...but I have golded all the races...indivudally..I just not done it through the championship mode of doin all at same time...

Do I have to do them all again and gold them or do i just have to finish the race...as i have golded them all ready to gt the Gold championship???

Hope that make sense..
