Does 50Hz matter for a gaming TV?

There's no way that that TV doesn't support 60Hz. All HD Ready badged TVs have to be able to display 720p in 50Hz AND 60Hz. If they're badges HD Ready 1080p, then they must support 24Hz as well.

I had a TV that supported 60Hz in the 1980s, and every one I've owned since has supported it. I'm amazed it's taken until this generation of consoles to finally leave 50Hz behind.

I'm a little confused and full of cold so bare with me, but is the suggestion that this tele would stuggle to run games such as fallout?

If you had a CRT style TV that only supported 50hz, you would be stuck. BUT, this LCD (TV) will support 60hz, it is just weirdly advertised as 50hz. I stand to be corrected, but I am sure any LCD that accepts PC input would support 60hz and I have never seen or heard of a modern LCD that does not support 60hz.

Certain 360 games only support 60hz ( I remember having to change the 360 to SCART mode to change the 360 display mode, or some nonsense like that, to play certain games).

A manual will confirm this (Usually lists display modes in the back) but I cannot find one online for this model.

No games REQUIRE 60hz, some support it, but as you said they're few.

Umm other way around mate pull out the case to Gears of War if you have it for example.

The majority of games on the 360 require a 60Hz screen but all CRT's before they became defunct would display at 60Hz as will all flat screen tv's.

Hi,

looking to get a tele that would fit nicely on my wall, specifically an LED one. The one I'm looking at is http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003DNSJ22/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= for ~£350.

I don't need it to be spectactular since I'm used to playing on a 22" computer monitor, just an upgrade. I know it's the standard refresh rate so it should be ok for playstation and xbox?

On that TV they are on about the standard refresh rate in movie terms. So it doesnt have special 100hz technology such as Motionflow/TruMotion or whatever TV companies call their 100hz these days. Running a console through that TV will be fine at 60hz.

My mums old CRT wouldn't work with some 60Hz games so I don't know how you came to that conclusion. :p
